have I got egg on my face? - Swift 2 headgear

Post by Moby » Fri Jul 04, 2008 8:51 pm

Hi everyone,

I have been experimenting for months to improve the Swift headgear so it stays in place as I toss and turn. My experiments produced something that looked suspiciously like the manufacturer's headgear, so I have returned to that, adjusted it and it works well now! (with mouth taping and the adaptation below).

The adjustment that makes all the difference is the position of the strap at the back of the head. In the illustration it fastens too high for me. I now position it well into the nape of my neck which is also more comfortable.

Other modifications:

I have padded the long inlet tube so if I lie on it in the night it is comfortable.

I have added a "sling" made of a thin strip of leotard lycra, you can cut a slit in it and it does not run or fray. I poke the vent holes through the slit and cut another slit close by to poke the inlet hose through. I fasten it with velcro. The lycra is just the right stretchiness, and I cut it so it is very narrow under the nose and wider up round the cheeks and top of head.

I can now alternate this with my FFM.

regards

Di

Hi Di,

Glad to hear you found another modification!

I really hate to ask you this, but can you post some pictures and instructions and maybe model it so we can see exactly what it looks like and how it works?

Thanks so much,

SleepyNoMore

Sorry Sleepy, no access to our camera at present.
By the time I can get a photo, I'll prob have modified the modification!!!!

To change the subject slightly, last two nights I got intermittent whistling from the Swift. I kept waking to take apart and reseal - removed the fabric sling. No better.

I had changed the nose piece, maybe some just don't fit properly?

regards

Di
