I replied to this message last night and guess what it was deleted along with one that Snoredog had written.

I asked why not give it to a veterans group since the machine was given to him by the military according to a post he made. Why even take the machine if you didn't even try to use the it?

It will be interesting to see if this post disappears like the other one!!!

FWIW, I replied to him via email and he wrote back, "I will take $1,000, everything I am offering runs for over $2,000."

So he's not exactly trying to help his fellow CPAPpers out (much less donate to someplace like Awake in America, etc.), and hasn't looked up that fact that any of us could get a BiPap Auto brand new--with free shipping and warantee--for $1000 from CPAP.com.

To reply to your comment. First of all you mentioned that I possibly earned this machine on your hard earned tax money.. Ok check this out hero. First of all what makes you think I didn't pay taxes in the United States Armed Forces? Do you think we are exempt? Oh no young lady, we get to pay the same amount of taxes you do, oh and did I mention that not only do I pay taxes, but hey I also fought for this country, so listen to me very clear and I mean crystal clear there high speed, don't ever sit here and judge me and think you know me. Ok second, the Bipap I had was approved through the Army and paid by me and my insurance company, yes the sleep studies were done by the Army, but upon my separation I had to pay for it myself. Did I mention VA authorizes free Bipap machines to Veterans who register with them. This is my machine and as far as I know I can do whatever I please with it. Why do you people have to make these types of remarks (meaning YOU!!)? I can sit here and go on and on and all you can do is reply back, but I bet you don't have the intestinal fortitude to come correct and face me.. Nah, people like you are cowards. Better yet, just stay home and degrade everyone who writes or post an ad. Unbelievable. To the rest that I have spoken so well with, I want to personally thank you for the advice and leads. EXACTLY

but it is questionable who owns this machine he is trying to sell - I would want "title insurance" with it if I were to buy it

At least we DON"T delete your posts that we don't like!!!

As far as supporting our military my son proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was among those that entered Iraq at the beginning of the war!! My dad served in the Army during WWII and later worked at the local air force base. I do know that dad was very very supportive of veterans groups and my son followed in his footsteps (my son never met my father as my dad passed away before my son was born). I KNOW they would give it to a veteran if at all possible!!!

I just really like that he said, "intestinal fortitude." Is that sort of like getting enough fiber?

To the original author: I don't know if you read the board much before posting your ad, but this is primarily a support community (and a remarkable one at that, as far as anonymous internet forums go). When items do appear for grabs, its often in the spirit of one hosehead trying to help another: folks will swap masks with each other, offer things at a deep discount (or ask where they can donate a machine), or at most, people will direct other board members to their open auction at cpapauction.com (which is really the appropriate place for this, since you are trying to get market value).

I don't agree with the folks taking pot shots at the military or veteran aspects of it (though we read so much about returning vets not recieving proper care that I think it rubs folks the wrong way who thought you were taking $1000 worth of resources away from someone else in the Trident health care system by not returning the machine). However, the way this was presented did make it sound like an insurance racket (a never-used machine, not paid for out of pocket, being sold for cash online)--and folks are so pro-treatment here that admitting to never even trying it isn't going to be taken well either, minus some sort of explanation of how you're not suffering from apnea anymore (which you provided in your followup).

I suggest you list it on craigslist or cpapauction.com, with photo and full details, etc., and see what kind of price you can get. This isn't a great place for "for profit" activities.

Since the VA gives veterans free machines, what is the point of giving
more machines to vets? The machines might do better by going to
the average American citizen who has no insurance and needs a bipap.

Sounds like a sales ad that would be more appropriately posted on the auction website. Even there, you may want to avoid insulting your potential buyers.
