Travel machine

Post by pyasher » Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:52 pm

I am new to CPAP and was not very willing to use the machine at first. I was diagnosed last May (2007) and just began to use the machine this May. Now that I see how much better i feel I am a nightly user. I have two questions for the group. Firts what is the best machine for air travel. I travel weekly and the machine I have now is large and inconvenient to carry. Second does anyone have any experience with the M Series auto cfex machine. My wife commented I was snoring again the other night and I believe it was because my nasal pillows were leaking. i was thinking a auto machine might help prevent this. The cflex option is also interesting as I do at times when first turning the machine on have trouble breathing normally. Any input woud be appreciated.

Perry,

Could you fill in your profile - specifically what machine is it you are using?

Hello & Welcome, pyasher! Glad you found this forum--SO much useful info and SO many helpful people here!

Glad to hear you started using your CPAP and that you're feeling the positive results! It's amazing how sleep apnea robs us of good sleep and good health.

I don't own this machine, but seems it would be great for travel:

RipVW is correct. I do own a Zzz-PAP and use it for travel frequently. In fact, I recently used it in Israel. It is a WONDERFUL machine. I could not be happier.

Hello pyasher--I don't travel that often but recently took my CPAP on vacation with me and it was WONDERFUL----it is the RESMED S8 ELITE. It is compact, and light weight--comes in its own travel bag--looks similar to a lap top bag--only navy blue in color with lots of zippers. It packs up nicely!!
Good LUCK!
Carrie

I travel with my M series Aflex machine with no problems humidifer and all. I just bought a very sturdy, padded back back and carry everything together plus my laptop in another carry on. It's not particularly heavy and you certainly don't want to pack it in your luggage anyway.

Thanks everyone for all the information. I was planning on purchasing a M series auto with heat or a cheap machine for travel and continue to use my Fischer Paktel 604 at home. Since i believe c flex and APAP will help me get a more restful sleep experience and when I am on the road I need to be alert I will go for the more expensive unit.

Cost effective (read : Cheap) Bi-Level Machine

Post by tbone106 » Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:26 pm

I'm buying this one outright, I have lousy insurance.

Cost effective (read : Cheap) Bi-Level Machine. I check with Cpapautions, but their pricing is nearly the same as retail -- people are educated and know what things cost nowadays.

Thoughts?
