help! humidifier stopped working!

Post by penelopepanda » Thu Jun 26, 2008 7:11 pm

Hi all,

I have a Remstar M series CPOap with built in humidifier. I have only had the machine for a year and a half.

A few days ago I noticed that the water in my humidifiers resevoir was not depleasted each night as it usually does.

Any ideas what's going wrong and how I can fix it?!?!

Thansk so much for your time and assistance!

I am assuming that it isn't getting warm at all.

Have you checked to make sure that the power cord is plugged in all of the way? If it is not the cord and the control is turned up, take it back to your DME; I think that it has a two year warranty.

There is only one plug for the machine and the humidifier, since the cpap function is working I'm assuming the humidifier is getting power too.

I will definitely look into the warranty.

Thanks!

Resprionics told me that the cpap machine has a 2 year warrenty but the humidifier only has a 1 year warrenty and the chamber is warrentied for only 90 days. You can try, sometimes they have pity on us poor patients and fix them out of warrenty. Some one once posted that there was a fuse in the unit but I never could find it. I suspect that you would have to take it apart to find it. The power is actually different. The machine runs off 12 volts and the humidifier runs off 110 Volts. The cap on the power brick bleeds the 110 Volts off to the humidifier with a non removable plug.

You would actually better off scraping it like I did and replace it with a Fisher & Paykel HC 150. It is a better unit and will work with most all units.

Check to make sure the knob (for the humidifier) is turned ON and the blue lite on the knob comes ON when the blower comes on.

Good Luck,
