Traveling to Spain

Post by LindaCPAP » Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:14 pm

Hi - I'm traveling to Spain on Friday. Does anyone know if I will be able to take my cpap along without any problems once I board the international flights? I don't need to use it on the plane but I don't want it confisgated either!

Shouldn't be a problem. Don't forget an extension cord, outlet adapter, and 3-way adapter.

Hi - what do you mean by outlet adapter and three way plug. The cord on my cpap is a regular cord and I am going to bring an extention cord.

Linda,

Different countries use different voltages and frequencies of electricity. The following link shows you what you need for spain.

I went to Italy last October and took my cpap. I wouldn't check it in my luggage. Put it in your carry-on. Just tell screeners as they did some extra checks. On the last leg of my flight I was told my carry-on was 1/2" too big so I checked it - I thought it's a short flight what could happen and I was tired of carrying it. Yep, the bag didn't make the flight! I don't speak Italian but when i told them my breathing machine was in there they understood and said they would expedite finding it. We were staying 2 hours away and in the outskirts of a very small village but about 2AM the bag was delivered! I didn't take the humidifier but did take a converter - wish I had taken an extension cord.

I was given a letter from my sleep clinic stating that my CPAP is a piece of medical equipment and I should be allowed to take it through security and to take it as a carry on.

I'd skip the extension cord; US extension cords won't work in Europe. You can pick one up there or possibly get one from the hotel. The cord I had in Kuwait had a universal plug configuration. I could plug anything into it, and it plugged into the type of outlets available in Kuwait.

Linda, Linda, Linda.... You obviously need someone to look after your equipment on your trip. Why don't you invite me along (expenses paid of course) to look after all these details!
