last night's data?

Post by datahog » Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:08 am

I have the Respironics M Series Auto-Pap with A-Flex. When i wake up in the morning, i'm only able to see a running average of the past 7 days/30 days with my compliance data --- AHI, leak, pressure, etc. My question is whether there's any way to get the machine to give me last night's data only?

Yes there sure is! You need to get into the part of the machine that is hidden from you. To do this...... unplug the power from the back of the machine. Press down the 2 arrow keys on the top of the machine and plug it back in at the same time. Hold the buttons until you hear 2 beeps. Then you need to wait a couple of seconds for the display to become unlocked.
Once that happens use the arrow keys to get to the therapy screen. Then hold down the minus key until the data returns to 0 hours.

Now if you need to change your any of your other settings, you would hold down the + button to change those.

It's pretty easy!
Good luck!

You need EncoreViewer 1.0 or EncorePro 1.8 software with a smartcard reader to get meaningful data. This is an example of a night from earlier this month using Encore Viewer.

If that is a typical chart for your treatment, you need to bump up your min pressure to about 8 cm and work on getting those mouth/mask leaks under better control.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

New LT nasal pillow mask should arrive today. The ComfortClassic is ok, but I haven't gotten leak rate average out of the high 30s, with spikes to 60+ l/m.

Anyway, the point was, none of this information is available directly off the machine, you have to buy the software so you can evaluate the therapy and know where you can take action to improve it.

And, since we're talking about last-night's data...this is it.

bap40, I was about to ask this question when I saw this thread
I need a bit of clarification here. I have this same model machine. I can get into the therapy screen fine. Should I do this with the compliance card in, or the card taken out? Does this really erase all the data stored in there? Is this a way to reset the data every day so that you can look at just one day's data only every day? If so, my doc is not going to be happy with this

Is there a way to calculate the last day's AHI from the 7 day running average, if one keeps a log of daily averges? For this we need to know if it is a true averge of the past 7 days, or it is a approximation, which is a running averge by taking last days average * 7 + today's number and then dividing the whole by 8 or some such formula.

Does anybody here know how Respironics calculate the 7 day average?

When you erase the data in the machine's memory by using the buttons, I don't believe it erases the Smartcard data and that's what I presume your doc will look at. To erase a Smartcard requires a utility program.

I've worked with running averages and I could not exactly match what the Respironics came up with. That may be because of the distinction between "sessions" and "days" and any lengthy breaks in therapy if, for example, I can't sleep and get up after starting cpap and there is a break for over an hour or something like that. There are others who can be more precise than that

I really would like to get some confirmation from somebody who knows for sure that the above erasing does not change the data on the card. When I tried it, I know the patient data I am seeing has all been erased. I would not want to do this again, unless the data on the card is preserved. I am one of those trying to cooperatively work with my doctor

I understand why you'd like to be sure. I am reasonably sure but if you're at all uncomfortable then certainly wait. Think of it this way: the detail (not compliance) data drops off the card automatically after 7 days and that doesn't affect what shows on the LCD display. The compliance data stays on the card for somewhere around 6 months. So I think the two are actually independent.

I'm also trying to get the machine to show just what happened last night, and tried the instructions here and am confused. Even though i know i used the machine for ~9 hours last night, I "zeroed" it out/reset it last night before I got the ~9 hours and now it says that my number of sessions >4 hours was 0. It also presents a running average of 7 days data for usage, which is ~4.5 hours, even though as i say i slept ~9 hours last night. given this, i'm not sure how reliable the AHI and leak and pressure displays are in providing data just for last night. Has anyone tinkered with this successfully to display just last night's data?

How to reset the M series machine "weekly"/"monthly" details back to zero, in order to view just last night's results the next day:

I have never had anything erased on my card from erasing my nightly data.

"Error: An entry with the same key already exists"

Is this what happens after 7 days? I got this message a couple of weeks ago, and thought my reader was screwed up. I uninstalled the Viewer software, and reinstalled it, only to find that it still "knew" my data range available and still gave me the error message for older data. So, then, is it the case that I have lost access to data from 2 weeks ago or more? Should I print the reports every week to maintain access?

Incidently, every report I generate gives me data for every single day within the range, prior to the last page, which is the range average. The page prior to the last page should be last night's data alone (it is on mine).

Sorry...last night's data is on the second to last page.
