Hi Guys, Im still tired! 1 week therapy AHI is 8.5 ai 0.3 HI is 8.2 I know that my sleep lab tech told me that i didnt sleep on my back for the titration i wonder if i need higher pressure? Should I have gotten an AutoPAP? Can a machine be exchanged from a CPAP to APAP? Am i expecting too much? will #s get better over time? I wear the mask 100% of the time and sleep 7-9 hours. No leaks. Any Answers will be awsome. Mike

It would help us if you would fill out your profile with your equipment so that we can see what you're using. Do you have a data capable CPAP? When you say "no leaks", how do you know that? Your AHI is pretty high still, it makes me wonder if you're mouth breathing. While it sometimes takes a while to feel rested, it helps to know that your therapy is doing its job.

My AHI was in the same range for the first couple of weeks also, and it eventually started coming down. I think it just takes a while to settle in with the newness of everything.
Also still being tired at this point is not unusual either. You've likely gone years without sleeping well and have a sleep deficit/debt to catch up on, and it does take time. Funny enough, I actually felt more tired at one month, but I'm happy to say that went away.
There may come a time where you will want to start tweaking to get a better AHI, but at one week it is too soon to start messing with things, in my opinion anyway. Give it at least a couple weeks to see how your AHI looks when you've gotten a little more used to everything. And if you do want to start adjusting pressures at that point, like the post said above, you will need to fill in your equipment profile so people familiar with your specific machine will be able to chime in.

I don't advocate newbies playing with their pressure without talking to their doctor. Most of your promblems here at the start will be related to getting used to the therapy. It's good news you can keep the mask on 7 hours.
For many of us it took weeks for the tiredness to go away - it not unusual for you to still feel tired at 1 week. That's not saying that nothing is happening with your therapy, the body heals itself on the inside first - often not visable to the naked eye. Your first signs of improvment will come as a whisper, so vague you think you're imagining then. Grab on to those for moral boosters, it gets frustrating waiting. One morning you'll wake up and say "I feel better".
How did you get your numbers? Do you have software? or did they come off a display. What does your machine say about your leak rate?
