Oh make no mistake about it - I'd sure keep it too. No doubt in my OSA sleepin mind.

Unless of course, I didn't know the value of an Aflex machine.

If they called to say they were taking it away - I'd lock the door or leave the house w/machine in hand. I actually did that one time, ha!

I cant really explain the difference in words, but yes, there is a world of difference between the two. I was on straight cpap with cflex (pressure of 17) and went to apap with aflex, BIG difference. It was like breathing into an empty tube! At one point I switched to cpap again with cflex, only took me one night to figure out that I was going back to apap with "aflex"... big, big difference. Love it....
Thanks Joyce,

That was very helpful.

Rachel,

If you want you can PM me the Serial# off the machine and I can check the warranty status from Respironics in a couple of minutes. If it's not under warranty and the DME gave you a personal 2 years warranty thru them, I would get that in writing ASAP!!!!

I had a similiar thing happen to me a couple of weeks with Respironics.

I sent my machine back to the online co. I bought it from ( getting hot on top & waxie circles on the top ), they mailed me a old used smelly/stinky one and said nothing was wrong with the one I sent in to be (so called) "repaired"

I called fighting (tooth & nail), and finally they agreed to send me a brand new one BTW, my machine I sent in was less than 2 months old!

Beware of sending your machine in to be so called repaired, (kiss it goodbye) and say hello to a old really used stinky one!

I haven't used or even plugged this stinky/used one in, I just sniffed the back (inlet area) and almost fainted from the rotten funk!

What happened to "CROSS CONTANAMATION" ? I thought they we're supposed to SANATIZE these used machines before sending them out to us but evidentally they "DO NOT" so beware of that also!

Goodluck

I initially got a brand new machine, with blower hours at 0, but after about 175 hours of use it started making the most awful screeching sound. I took it in to the DME and they exchanged it for another aflex machine. They did tell me the exchange was for a used machine with 12 blower hours.

Yeah that is one problem with getting a used machine. The used one I got reeked of perfume. I replaced the filers and wiped the inlet area with an alcohol pad, which all helped a lot, but it still stank of that perfume for several weeks. If it had been cigarette smoke, or something equally vile, I would have taken it back immediately and demanded another one.

And most likely the "perfumed" smell would have done me in! I could handle the smokey smell better than most all "perfumes", colognes, etc. They give me HORRENDOUS headaches and even many of the "cleaners" take my breath away. I dread elevators due to all the "scents" people wear.

People shower w/scented soap and scented shampoo, dry off w/a towel dried in a clothes dryer w/scented dryer sheets, then don scented antiperspirant, splash on a little scented cologne or perfume. don clothes dried in the dryer w/those scented sheets and then .... I "think" I prefer good ole human sweat, at least it doesn't give me horrendous headaches. I KNOW I prefer the scent of good ole horse manure!!

Rehashing an old thread - sorry. I bought a "NEW" IntelliPap Auto and it came with over 30 hours on the blower counter. According to Devilbiss they do not reset the blower hours after testing.

Just to let you guys know.

Respironics has the "one touch" program for warranty repairs. When a machine is sent into them as defective, they send back a refurbished unit with a new 2 year warranty. This saves down time, and gets the patients the machine they need in the most timely manor.

That is obviously what happened with the origional poster, as it came in a new box from Respironics, the DME assumed it was a new machine. There was no deception going on, just a misunderstanding of the process.

If any of you get a replacement machine from Respironics, you will likely see blower hours on it, but it carrys a 2 year warranty from the factory and has been completely rebuilt/sanitized.

This does not account for the last posters who got "smelly" machines.

Thanks, GuestRPSGT/SleepLabManager. It always helps to get some input from those "in the business". You are more than welcome to visit here often! We don't usually pick on the sleep techs much, or even the sleep labs, its usually the local DME suppliers you will find us griping about and they seem to be the weakest leak in the CPAP therapy chain.
