Noisy mask

Post by kevincrna » Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:34 am

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to decrease the turbulence in the ultra mirage II using the RESMED S8 Vantage... The machine is very quiet, but generates volumes of air that makes the mask a small "jet engine"...
Too loud for my wife to sleep.
Thanks for any ideas at all.

I have the same nasal mask.

It shouldn't be that loud. Check where the hose meets the mask. There's a piece of plastic that should be *clicked* firmly into place. It says "click" on it.

Also, if you are using an insulated hose cover, make sure the hose cover isn't too close to the mask exhaust port. The exhaust port on the mask is usually pretty quiet, but mine started making a lot of noise. The exhaust was blowing against the end of the hose cover and making a loud Pfffffffffttt sound. I slid it farther down the hose towards the machine and the sound went away.

I make a lot less noise now without the snoring and my wife is thrilled about that.

Or the noise could be the mask leaking. Check your leak rate.
