Resmed Activa Squealing

Post by NeurosurgeryNP » Tue May 27, 2008 11:25 am

Anyone ever had a problem with the Activa mask squeling at the hose insertion site on the mask when turning the hose or repositioning in bed at night. It is so disturbing - actually wakes me up at night.

If you have had this problem, how have you fixed it

I don't use that mask but some use plumbers teflon tape ... do a search for "activa plumers tape".

Have you checked for a leak where the noise is coming from?

I have this mask, I have been using for over a year. Is it air leaking or is it the plastic squeaking at the elbow connection to the mask?

If it is squeaking, try washing it. That sometimes helps. One time I ended up putting a bit of vegetable oil on the surface where the elbow clips into the mask.

Otherwise Dreamstalkers suggestion of teflon tape where the hose meets joins to the elbow. Makes me wonder if your hose end is defective or stretched a bit.

If you have disassembled the mask for cleaning
make sure all 3 of the green clips are completely locked in their respective
places - sometimes the bottom clip is not locked in place and the mask will squeal in a certain position it took me a while once to figure that out
and actually replaced a mask due to improper assembly
another problem after reassembly is the improper seating of the silicon vent thingy- also causes loud noise
