Pleasant surprise from Royal Caribbean

Post by Grump » Tue May 20, 2008 5:39 pm

I am going on a cruise next month and was prompted to send Royal Caribbean an email requesting an extension cord in my room based on a previous post I read. I did not request or even mention distilled water as I planned to use bottled water, if needed, as I noted others have done. I just received a response from Royal Caribbean (within a couple of hours of my request) and in addition to the extension cord, they have ordered a gallon of distilled water for my room. Very nice!

CPAP usage on cruises must definitely be up if they anticipate someone needing distilled water in addition to a request for an extension cord!

Cool. I proposed earlier this year that we could have a CPAP Cruise...could you imagine all the CPAPs hooked into the cruise ships power grid system!

I took a Royal Caribbean cruise last summer, and had a similar experience. I never received the distilled water, but it was still a nice gesture for them to offer it. (I'm sure if you remind them once you're on board, you'll get the water, I was too busy having fun to bother - I bought a bottle of purified water and used it in passover mode) I recommend taking your own extension cord, and some 2" wide tape to secure the cord along the wall so that you don't trip over it. Some string, a hair scrunchie, and a big binder clip will enable you to hang your hose from something over your bed.

Have a great trip! Where are you going?

Cathy

Fredman - better yet, can you imagine passing a CPAP cruise at night and seeing the ship lit up with all the blue lights emanating from every room?

Cathy - If the distilled water isn't in the room I probably won't mention it either - I don't use the humidifer regularily anyway. I was just impressed that they offered without being asked. I will have a bottle of purified water just in case. Thanks for the other suggestions.

We are going on a Western Caribbean cruise on the Liberty of the Seas this time. Our 13 year old son really wanted to try the Flowrider.

Tangents - really good suggestions for bring alongs to make the sleeping experience better. Never would have thought of the tape. I normally have my CPAP on my night stand but a good idea to have the scrunchie and binder clip just in case for some reason the configuration won't work and I have to suspend or route the hose as opposed to coming across from the night stand.

Tangents.. Same here with the extension cord. My first trip with CPAP was an ah-ha. A 10' sits waiting in my bag and not only powers the CPAP but recharges both phones. BTW, I get by with 10' but wish it were 12' to dress it out of the way better.

CPap Cruise

Post by GoodnightHoser » Wed May 21, 2008 9:05 pm

I was reading your comments and starting laughing out loud about the blue lights emanating from the cruise ship. My husband said, "What's so funny?" So I'm trying to explain to him what you guys are talking about and he starts singing "OOO--EEEE, OOOO-EEEE Baby! Won't you let me take you on a CPap Cruise....!"

You should tell Wulfman how much fun we would have. He thinks that a CPAP cruise would be a bunch old people complaining about their machines, therapy etc...

Goose set him right... but alas and alack no cruise for 2010. We tried but no interest.

It would be interesting though and perhaps not far from the truth about the power and blue lights emanating....

Morning breakfasts, all of us with our strap and mask marks on our faces! Wouldn't need those silly Conference tags!!!

If it were a Windjammer cruise, perhaps with just the right setup of exhaust ports it could make a new speed record?

I think I'll leave my mask on just a little longer than the rest . . .

At least until all that gas passes . . .

ha ha ha this is why Cruising would be so fun with a bunch of Hosers!

The ship would never know what hit them!

Did you know that the Carnival Cruise Lines holds a bloggers cruise for people that blog. It was so successful that they are planning their second cruise? Of course Carnival is organizing it. Man what a good marketing tool for them.

I guess we are not as forward thinking as those techno geeks...woops maybe there are some of those techno/blogger types that have SA too...shhh...careful don't wan't to incite them into action. Even those techno guys like to party and what excuse do they have? They are introverts that like machines....oh kind of like hosers hmmm I guess I should let this die. But man I can't believe the excuses, the lack of interest from a group that loves to share their knowledge and wisdom with everyone...oh well like I said to Goose, yes let it lie and simmer at some point it will happen.
