Can you imagine all those CPAP machines in one place!

Post by Fredman » Tue May 20, 2008 7:04 pm

Well we didn't get a huge response from folks wanting to have a CPAP Cruise or Conference in 2010. I had contacted Earl aka "rock and roll" who is a Cruise and Travel specialist, CPAPer and one of the first to suggest this a few years back and I had tried to even solicit some support from Johnny at CPAP.com. So the second attempt will die as the first proposed trip - the people have spoken! 1093 views here are the poll results:

Would you be interested in Attending a CPAP Cruise or Conference?

Cruise in 2010 27% [ 3 ]
Conference in 2010 18% [ 2 ]
Not interested - dumb idea 45% [ 5 ]
Interested - but can't attend 9% [ 1 ]
Would be willing to help organize! 0% [ 0 ]
Total Votes : 11

Our virtual meeting place here seems to be the most convenient at the time...perhaps at the right time, right place and when the moon aligns with the stars we can have a chance to all meet in person.

Can you imagine all those CPAPs in one location all being used on a Cruise ship or a hotel! Housekeeping staff wouldn't know what hit them...although I am sure most have seen them by now!

Sorry to hear that Fredman.....
Perhaps there is comfort in the anonymity of the forum.....

I still think a bunch of us in jammies and masks roaming around some casino in Vegas would be a kick......
But like I said in my original post, until I find work I ain't goin' nowhere!!!!!

Just let it simmer....

cheers

Thanks Goose!

That's good wisdom...Good things take time to develop just like a good pasta sauce it has to simmer!!!

I have faith and it will happen when it's meant to happen!

i think your poll results says it all...

and just like last time, who wants to spend all that money and time going on a cruise vacation just to hear a bunch of whiney and complaining patients complain about their cpap therapy?

We get enough of that here

If I went on a cruise vacation and spent all that money, I'd want to be off on excursions having a good time at port, when I got back to the ship I'd be ready to find a line for eating then to the bar for blender drinks and watching the women puke on their shoes and I guarantee you when I got back to my cabin there wouldn't be any CPAP machine sitting there even if I had to sleep standing up.

Besides I can just drive down to Mexico and experience the same thing for near nothing especially if I stay at my friends place on the beach.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

You old snoredog your lucky. Well this cold Canadian is looking for any damned excuse to get warm!

Maybe I can get a cruise going with DMEs and RTs, I am sure they get together on cruises to plot how they can get more money from us so that they can go on more cruises!

Awww snoredog, you don't have to hang around with whiny CPAP'ers unless ya want to.....Those ships are BIG!!!! Plenty of places to hide....
My CPAP machine will accompany me on my next one -- whenever that may be!!!

When I was living in Mexico I met many Canadians that, like Fredman, were looking for a place to get warm. I now have a very good friend who lives in Edmonton - can't figure out how you folks put up with 30 below.....

And the pasta sauce cooks........

cheers

Goose that would be my city...shhhh don't tell anyone...shucks I gave it away! Nice City on the smaller side about 1.1 million in the capital area (Edmonton is the Capital of Alberta).

Yup, been a number of times to SoCal and love it! San Diego, LA, Anaheim, just love the area. It's getting scary when Californians are familiar with us Canucks and our hoser ways eh!...but then again a lot of us are transplanted down there.

Don't get me wrong folks we do get summer yeah for about 4 months, 2 months of fall and then 6 cold months of winter. Canada is a beautiful country, a hidden treasure that lulls you into winter! Anyways we all have our crosses to bear so to speak when it comes to our geographic location.

Well, I hear there's a cpap-related trade show back in... Baltimore? Or some such, next month. Of course, it's for the Industry types only....

I think organizing smaller, local groups is easier than trying to organize one big national bash. Try working locally and holding a barbecue, or one day seminar, and work out from there.

Cheers,
B.

Fredman,

I'm going to take my annual December cruise with or without fellow CPAPers, but I think it would be fun for all of us to get together and bring all of our various mask collections to pass around and let everyone try them out . (We'll bring lots of Citrus II).

2010 is a little far away for anyone to commit to. I'm still trying to decide on where to go this December.

Maybe I'll see you on the islands.

Of course we could do a cruise on a smaller scale more of get together cruise of perhaps 5-6 hosers. Everyone book their own cruise and just meet. Then I think as folks here about it after returning, more people will be interested.

Over time, if we get enough people then it could become more organized with seminars, and sponsors, perhaps a mini trade show concept...but not too much stuff because we still want to have fun on board and with the excursions!

2010 is bit of the way out, but I thought it would give folks time to pay for a trip. Some express cost as a factor (really cruises are fairly affordable - if fuel costs can start to stabilize)

My first cruise this coming January with Carnival, San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten!

Now it could get really confusing if there was an international snorkling convention going on at the same time.

Hoses everywhere . . .
