Anyone using Resmed Mirage Vista mask?

Post by njy » Thu May 15, 2008 9:13 pm

I am still having mask problems. I have had about 6 different ones in two years!! My main problem is not so much with the mask but with the head gear. I wake up multiple times during the night to pull the head gear back down. I have long, stright hair and the head gear slips and slides. I have pulled my hair through the head gear to help hold it down, but still doesn't work. So tonight I decided to do some looking online to see what is there now that I haven't tried and ran across the resmed Mirage Vista. Does anyone here use it, and how do you like it. Does the head gear stay in place?

Also, if I go to the DME for them to order and they say "we don't carry that one" do I have a recourse beyond buying it out of pocket from cpap?

Thanks much
Nancy

The Vista has been out a long time, it is NOT a very popular interface, it is noisy, has bad air delivery and prone to leaks. The hard plastic headgear can cut under your ear lobes. It has some pivot points for eliminating leaks but it is not very flexible, a lot of people have tried it just not very many stick with it for various reasons.

I guess about the only thing positive about it is you can read while wearing it.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Thanks, Snoredog, I guess it is back to the drawing board for me. I appreciate the feedback

Can you tie your hair in a way that would hold the headgear in place? Pony tail, bun, whatever. How about bobby pins to secure the headgear to your hair. (Do they make those any more?)

Who is your DME?
Does your insurance plan allow you to go to other DMEs or only one?

This all starts with knowing _for certain_ what your insurance allows you to do DME-wise.
