Red and puffy eyelids

Post by alwealwe » Sun Jun 26, 2005 4:27 pm

After 2 months on CPAP, my eyelids are puffy and inflamed. Does anyone know if air can go from my nose up into my eyes? My opthamologist thinks I have an allergy, but doesn't know what it is. My eyelids are still red and puffy, even after several days using Patanol eye drops for allergies. Any suggestions on what else to coinsider as the cause?

[quote'"alwealwe"]Does anyone know if air can go from my nose up into my eyes[/quote] That's anatomical question you ophtalmologist should be able to answer - did you ask him? Does he know about your apnea treatment?

If I recall correctly, Titrator (who posts on this message board) wrote about a bubbly sound and small amounts of air coming out from between his eyelid and eyeball at least one night when he used his machine. Seems that it can route out that way. Still makes me cringe to think of it, even though he said it didn't cause pain. But the idea of it!

Remember, most of the tears your eyes create go through a small duct into your nose once they do their job in the eyes. It's possible that air could be working up that teenie-tiny duct, but there is a much easier path down your throat for the air to go...
