Cleaning used cpap question

Post by Woody » Sun May 04, 2008 8:19 pm

I just borrowed a apap to verrify my setting. The morning after I first used
it I started coughing up a lot of stuff kind of like I had an upper respitory
infection or an aleric reaction. I haven't had anything like this in over 2 years so think it's from this old cpap. I did wash the filter but I think this
must have a lot of dust or bacteria internaly. Is there any way to clean one
of these internaly without opening it up. This has made me a little scared
of used equipment.

Most are sealed units and can't/shouldn't be opened up. I would let it run all day, wash and dry all external parts, and see if that took care of it.
