It is my partner. We have just got a cpap. It is respironcs latest. other half has severe osa. The first night a peaceful 4 hours. What bliss! Since then not so good. he ends up taking it off. It seems to blow too hard in the middle of the night and massively escapes the mask. We will ring respironics tomorrow.
Has anyone ever been admitted to sort this out? We tried to get this sorted before through a sleep clinic in London and couldnt get follow up care. Now we have signed up specially for follow up care so we will see. meanwhile any tips? Why would it do this in the wee AM? yet not in the first few hours.
New patient new respironics machine

Hello & Welcome, freegirl! Glad you found this forum--SO much useful info and SO many helpful people here!
Assuming this is an auto machine, so most likely that the settings are not correct--perhaps the upper number is too high (?) I've read on this forum of folks' machines being set at 5/20, which for most would be a too wide lower/upper pressure range.

freegirl, the full name of the machine will be written on the top of the machine.
In the meantime, tell him that when he wakes up with machine blowing too hard, he should reach over and press the "Ramp" button. That will take the pressure back down right away. Better that he do that than take the mask off.
I'm assuming the machine has a ramp time set since he's not complaining about the pressure to start out with, so they probably set it for a Ramp time and lower starting pressure than his prescribed pressure.
He can hit Ramp as many times during the night as he needs to, to make it start over again low.
