In researching masks, I clicked on most of the threads here, and then clicked on the masks in the replies just to see what most of the people here use.
I know that each and every person is an individual, and we all have our favorites and use what is best for ourselves, but it seems to me that the most popular used FF mask is the Ultra Mirage, and the most popular nasal is the Swift nasal pillow mask.
I keep seeing these two in alot of the threads. Would I then assume that these two are two of the best there is in their catagories?
I'm trying to make a list of what I possibly might like or ask for at my sleep study with the DME. So far, I know that the mask needs to have a good forehead support. A quick release is also good to have, and one easy to clean.
Any other tips for finding the "perfect" mask?
Mask poll?
I would go through the various categories and start doing some comparisons.
Actually, that's what I DID do about 3 years ago......except I knew I wanted a full face mask.....so that's where I started comparing......and have been happy with my choice.

Below is a link to more topics than a person could ever want to read -- about quite a few different masks.
Since each person is different, there's usually a lot of trial and error in finding a mask that really suits well.
For example, I like the Aeiomed Headrest nasal pillows mask I've been using for over two years much better than the Swift. Swift does suit a lot of people though.
If I had to wear a FF mask, the Ultra Mirage FF would be my choice.

In addition the Wulfman's and Rested Gal's suggestion for research, research, research... my I add to make sure you at least try on every mask available at the sleep center.
My sleep center had 3 to try, the swift, the comfort gel and the comfort classic - the swift didn't even make it 5 minutes, I still can't look even at a manequin head with one on without feeling the creepy feeling I felt then. At the end of the night the sleep tech filled out my prescription, put down the lesser of the 3 evils as my preference. Her instructions were to "tell the DME you really didn't like this that much, and does she have others you can try" The DME listened to what I liked and what I disliked about the mask, and then made a recommendation. There was a "30 day guarrenty" policy on the mask, and when that one wasn't quite "making it" we traded it for another.
Hopefully you will have as good luck with your DME as I have.
