I've recently started experiencing a "thumping" in my inner ear ( not tinnitus - have had that for a long time). Also, recently when I get up from a prone postion I experience a moment of dizziness. In addition recently, when i awaken in the morning and am lying in bed, if I turn my head from one side to the other - again brief dizziness. I've been on CPAP for about a year - relatively successful. I use a neti-pot every night in addition to a mixture of 1/3 baby antihistamne nose drops plus 2/3 solution of Oasis saline solution to keep my nasal passages open all night. I have an appt. with an Audiologist next week to see whether this condition warrants an appt. with an ENT. I was wondering wheter any of these problems could be CPAP related and whether anyone else has had similar ear/dizziness problems that they think may be related to CPAP use? Thanks
inner ear problems, dizziness & CPAP use?

dizziness
Thanks Julie. I had a ultrasound of my carotid arteries last year and they were all clear. I was thinking more along the lines of the air pressure blowing into the nose affecting the eustacean tubes.
Be sure you are drinking plenty of water.
Is the sound in your ear from your heartbeat?
Are you female?
How old are you?
Are you on any medications?
I've had a couple sinus/ear problems since being on the CPAP machine, but I'm not sure the machine is causing it.
I think some of us have more delicate sinus/oral mucosa than others and can be easily affected by all that air and pressure.
I had tons of dizziness with hormone fluctuations.
I even had 2 months of dizziness after a colonoscopy.......so I think our GI tracts can affect things like that too.
I just went to the ENT last week for irritated sinuses, pressure, and my heartbeat in my ear, and he's sending me to have allergy testing.
Is it possible you have allergies?
There have been alot of similar posts recently........about sinuses/ears, and I'm wondering if the spring weather is causing alot of this.
Personally, I'm convinced my symptoms are from hormone fluctuations, but we'll see.
Just be sure you're drinking lots of water.
Definitely cut back on your salt intake.
If the thump in your ear isn't your heartbeat, it could be a spasm of your ear drum. I get those occasionally too. Be sure you're getting enough calcium, magnesium, and B12.
