Wish for custom face mask

Post by becka » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:55 am

I currently use a full-face mask and have read all the discussions about them. I know cost is the main factor, but with all the innovation and technology available, why can't the manufacturers offer a customizable mask? You could send or email an impression of your face and they could design a mask that really fits just you. Maybe in the future?

I so agree. If you start a petition, I'll sign.

Actually it is already being done.

I have read on the forum in the past that there is a place in Australia that makes custom fitting masks. The cost is prohibitive for the vast majority of users as you have to travel there and stay for a few days if I remember correctly so they can make a mold of your face, make the mask, and then have you "fit" to the mask.

If you can afford the expense go for it!!

I completely agree. As much as these things cost they should be a custom fit.

Wow - Austrailia is so advanced. What is wrong with US companies? Where have all the great minds gone?

Thanks Den for the link. I was at work when I posted about it and couldn't search for the link.

I wrote a letter to Respironics asking why, considering technology, etc., we couldn't have customized masks. The answer came back that it would be too expensive.

I still think it's a great idea.
