noise on fixed pressure

is ti normal machine is noisier on fixed pressure? they changed me to a fixed pressure of 9 but I find it pushes too much air on the inhalation and I had a terrible cold with a long dry cough that ended in an asthma attack..it is normal till i get used to it? in the auto the machine was not so noisy.
