My Sleep Doc Hit me!

Post by Limestone » Wed Apr 09, 2008 5:00 pm

Not really ,it was a high five.

Had a scheduled followup appointment yesterday. He started with the usual "how ya doin "and when I told him I was starting to feel better and had purchased an auto machine he gave me a high five and commented that he does't use anything but, for his own treatment ."You'll never see it all in one night at the lab".We covered off my Encore data and the changes I have made(2.5 cm pressure increase) and I spent the rest of my appointment showing him around CPAP.com and CPAPAUCTION.com(hope he spreads the word)
I love this guy!

yep, those guys are rare, Johnny should put up a wall of fame for guys like that and a wall of shame for the others, that way if someone else needs a doc from the wall of fame they know exactly where to go.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

where the HELL...oops, i mean...where in ONTARIO did you find a sleep dr. who gave you a prescription for an AutoPap without giving you the gears about the ADP guidelines around apap?

or did you purchase it out of pocket from cpap.com with a cpap rx?

anyway, this green eyed monster may be jealous, but happy for you nonetheless

way to go limestone!

My sleep doc gave me an Auto Cpap Rx..... all I had to do was ask.... was no big deal.

Btw.... I think you can order a Auto Cpap on cpap.com with a CPAP Rx.

Very rare indeed! My lovely bride just had her study done and the doc said he does't use autos and you must bring your machine in for them to make changes, then he informed us she did need a bipap with pressures of 22/18 and wrote the perscription for either of 2 machines neither of which were bipaps. Fortunatly he had the pressures on the perscription marked under bipap and we were able to order her an auto just like mine. We certainly will not be taking the machine for THEM to adjust and may never see his office again.

I certainly hope you got an automatic bi-level machine, and not a plain automatic one....

Yea we got an auto bilevel, The doc also told her when she was on her back (which they made her do) her pressures were 22/18, but when on her side they were 16/13, sounds like a perfect fit for an auto to me.....huh

i think you missed the point
the OP is in ontario, canada, as am I
~in ontario, it IS a big deal to get an auto pap Rx, at least if you want to get it covered
and you apparently didn't notice that i asked this very question (bolded text) about ordering it from cpap.com

Sharon ,I had to buy out of pocket as I was sent on my way with an "Mseries plus" 18 months ago and as you know won't qualify for ADP again until the 5 year point.I phoned the sleep lab about a month ago to see if they had a manometer (@7pm I love her too) and the sleep tech told me to bring my machine right over and while there I mentioned to her that I am thinking about buying an auto and asked if the sleep doc would prescribe it,her reply was that he would prefer all his patients have one and the barrier is always the cost(by the way my quote for the Mseries auto at the local DME was $1800,I love cpap.com too) she told me he was away on vacation and to just have PCP write the script. And that's what I did. After being jerked around in the beginning of this treatment process,I have finally found a great group of proffessionals who's only interest is making me feel better!

I think the wall of fame and the wall of shame is a great idea as snoredog suggests, but I think the disk space to store the wall of shame would be cost prohibitive!!!!

Fortunately my doc would make the wall of fame

cheers
