Breeze nasal pillows

Post by LindaCPAP » Fri Apr 04, 2008 7:15 am

Is anyone using the Breeze nasal pillow system? I am using Opus 360 nasal pillows which I like but because I am a side sleeper I can't stand the marks. I'd like to know if you like the Breeze pillows.

I use the Breeze as my main interface rig (headgear is custom modified).

As for the nasal pillows, they are not as soft as Opus pillows ... in other words Breeze pillows are less flexible and more firm. It works for me though but I'm weird that way.

Well I might have to switch comfort for beauty (hehe). I'm a professional and fair and the Opus mask truly does leave me looking like the joker in the morning!

I alternated the Breeze and the Headrest -- till I deconstructed the Heardrest. A deconstructed Headrest, with Mack's silicone ear plugs to help it stick to my nose keeps my face clear.
And it's more comfortable for me than the Breeze.

I use the breeze for a bit more than a week now. It is more comfortable as a mask with straps in the face but the plastic piece holding the nasal pillows is too curved. Until now, I haven't found the perfect position of the pillows and my nostrils ache a bit in the morning. Only the largest nasal pillows are working for me.
Does someone know here, if there are sizes between the large and medium pillows? Or are there some good tweaks to solve this problem?

The Adams Circuit System is the for runner of the Breeze and IMHO works way better. It uses the same pillows. I've been a fan of it for over nine years now.

OK, silly question. How do ear plugs help you fit a face mask?

I have tried the Breeze as an alternative to the Opus but found, like some others stated above, that the curved piece holding the pillows puts too much pressure on the nose. I was able to reduce the curve (bending it out while holding it up against the opening of a hair dryer; tracing the piece on paper first will help you gauge the amount of change). Even with that relief I found the plastic shell holding the pillows to be too hard and uncomfortable. I also found that the anchor pad of the Breeze was causing consistent pain on the top of my head after a couple of weeks of use.

But, you can greatly reduce the tightness of the Opus straps by adding a rigid downtube between the hose and the pillows and routing it over the head. The rigid tube will add stability so that the straps are only needed to keep the pillows close to the nose. They can be so loose they barely touch your face.

You can see how I added the downtube as part of this mod:

Opus Ballcap Mod

Instead of putting it on the ball cap you just use the Opus headgear. The pressure from the downtube is enough to keep the pillows sealed against the nose with minimal help from the side straps. No pressure on the face and no marks in the morning.
