I have been using the auto for a year after trading up from the non data capable Plus. I have seen some improvement over the year but each day I have never felt as good as I did with the Plus Unit. Although I do not fall asleep at meetings and no longer sleep nine hours per day I just notice that I never felt as good as I did with the Plus unit. One big difference is that I noticed that with the auto unit I wake up every 2 to 3 hours. With the Plus unit I slept much longer between awakenings. I have tried the Remstar Auto on straight CPAP with the same results. Recently I decided to try my spare unit, a Puritan Bennet Goodnight G CPAP set at my titrated pressure of 12 cmH2O. The next day I felt much better and although this was only one night I noticed I only awakened once through the whole night (which for me is about 6 hours sleep time). Last night I went back to the Remstar set as a CPAP at 13 cm H2O without the c-flex and again I was up every two hours and did not wake up feeling as rested.
My leak rate is average for the mask and my AHI is very low with the Remstar Auto (.2 -.4 and many nights 0 AHI). Actually the numbers seem low and it makes me wonder if the unit is working correctly. I am going to use the PB unit exclusively for a couple of weeks and see if I continue to see this difference. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
