Just got my CPAP machine today...
Yes, that is what your screen will say all the time it is plugged in and you are not using it. Don't worry about it.
Your leak rate is little high, not too bad but I like to see my rate under .10.
An acceptable AHI is considered to be under 5.0, so you are a bit over that. Like RG says, the Resmeds do tend to show a higher number of Hypoapnea, so that may be why that number is so high.
Just FYI, I shaved my 25 year old mustache off about a week into my treatment. I wasn't 100 percent sure it was causing leaks, but it felt like it was, and I figured it was a small price to pay to eliminate the chance of a leak there. I can always grow it back later.
The big question is, how do you feel? Did you sleep well, and how long did you sleep? Hopefully good, yes, and lots!

Question about the humidifier attached to it.....
I think the leak rate was "skewed" because I pulled the mask off of my nose a couple of times to re-position it.....the pain on my lip really was minimal considering it was my first time, well second time, ever using one.....
I didn't fill the water chamber up very far and it still has plenty of water in it....I read some of the info Rested Gal posted to me and it looks like I'll need to either only put as much water as one night will use in it(I'd be worried if it ran out and the heating element was one with no water in it).....or empty it each day just to refill it each night??....and I've been reading the manual for the HumidAire3i and I think it says to unplug the CPAP machine and let it sit 10 mins before detaching the HUM. from the CPAP??.....
Looks like I need to re-read all this info again in the manuals....I love reading, just not manuals...8-((
I only woke up twice last night...once was when my Chihuahua Lucy jumped off the bed for some water....and the other time was when I had to go to the bathroom....normally I'd be getting up 3-4 times a night, so this may be a good sign.....
I felt somewhat better this morning, no headache thankfully, but my throat was just a little scratchy.....minimal at best....
I still yawned on the way to work, but have seemed to be a little more energetic today....
I just hung my mask up on my bedroom door knob when i woke up, and also hung my hose over the doorstopper to my closet door.....I'm going to have to find SOME kind of soap to use to clean this stuff and then try to keep straight HOW often each piece of equipment gets cleaned...8-((...more reading....craps.....

Re: Question about the humidifier attached to it.....
Maybe you came across info like that in topics within links I give, but that's not what I do. I fill my humidifier (not the same brand you have) to the fill line each night. I don't dump the unused water out in the mornings. I just "add more" (distilled water only) for months at a time without dumping the water out or cleaning the water chamber. Haven't found all that to be necessary myself, using distilled water. Each person has their own routines, though.tekman88 wrote:I read some of the info Rested Gal posted to me and it looks like I'll need to either only put as much water as one night will use in it(I'd be worried if it ran out and the heating element was one with no water in it).....or empty it each day just to refill it each night??

Thanks RG.....that's some very useful info...
being my luck, I'll end up giving myself some kind of a respiratory infection or something.... ....I bought two, one gallon jugs of distilled water to use in the HUM. and I'm guessing it'll last a LONG time....the RT told me not to worry about filling it to the MAX line....so I didn't....I did turn the knob up just one more notch to see if the throat is less "scratchy" in the morning....
What do you think about the #'s I posted??....anything is better than the 56AHI from my initial sleep study.....
I also hope I lose some weight from doing this......

The numbers you posted looked good to me:tekman88 wrote:What do you think about the #'s I posted??
Leak 0.18L/s
AHI 7.3
AI 1.1
HI 6.2
I think my pressure is 9......
If my pressure was 9, I'd give 10 a try to see if it will knock the AI down to 0.0
For a resmed machine, the HI of 6.2 wouldn't bother me, but I'd probably use another full cm or two of pressure to prevent all the full apneas. I'd definitely want to raise the prescribed pressure a cm or two if I were going to turn on EPR. I'm not a doctor though..that's just what I'd do.

Scroll down to the bottom of that page and click the Escape. Will be similar enough to the Elite's menu to let you see most of the clinical menu items for your machine.

Welcome, Stanly, and good luck with your treatment... you have a good set up, and a machine that will serve you well.
You can fill the humidifier reservoir to the mark and then just top it off as needed. I keep a sprts bottle with a flip top by the bed so I can fil the humidifier without toting the humidifier or 2.5 gallon jugs of distilled water.
Use distilled water and you won't have any mineral build up, and very little cleaning to do.
It's ok to use bottled water like Aquafina or Desani when traveling, but avoid tap water, at home or on the road.
The lcd display on the machine is back lit. The light will go on when you press an button so you can read it in the dark, and then go off after two minutes. The display is still alive as long as the machine is plugged in (not just when it is blowing air), and it can be read in daylight. The buttons are softly backlit all the time as long as the machine is plugged in.
I see you were given direction on how to get into the clinical menu. One tip: write down the settings on the machine before you make any changes, so you can return to the previous settings easily if you need to.
Make one change at a time and live with it for a week before making other changes. Multiple changes make it very difficult to pinpoint what thing(s) worked and what ones didn't.
Use the humidity!! If you find that you have to increase the humidity to a point where you get condensation in the mask or on your face or gurgling in the tube, don't back off on the humidity. Instead, invest in (or make) a fleece hose cover. If that does not work, do a search on "heated hose" here on the forum and read up on the Aussie hose or the other home brew heated hose hacks. Humidity not only makes this treatment easier to bear, but it also helps you avoid illness. Dried out nasal passages and throat tissues are more prone to viral and bacterial attack.
You can pre-heat the humidifier before you go to sleep by pressing the right arrow key once. The display will say that the humidifier is warming. If you do not start the cpap after a period of time, the pre-heat will shut off on its own.
Change your filters regularly... once a month. It's cheap insurance, both for your comfort and your health. The machine works better, too.
Good luck! Let us know how your therapy goes!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
Also, you don't have to completely disconnect your humidifier to change the water. I just flip up the lid and pull out the tank. For cleaning, you want to use soap that is not antibacterial and has no lotion added to it. I use Ivory dish soap, I've read where others use Baby shampoo. I don't fill up my humidifier all the way up every night, but I do dump the water and let it dry out most every day. Since bacteria require water to live, that solves that problem, and distilled water is cheap.
You are allowed to be as complusive as you like about cleaning your equipment. I like how it smells when its clean, but cleaning everything every day is a pain, so I don't. I do shower every day and wash my face every night before I put on my mask, so I figure things aren't getting too dirty. But its pretty easy to swoosh the mask around in some soapy water most days. Some people just take their hose into the shower with them and clean it that way, then drape it over the shower curtain to dry. Get a routine you are comfortable with. Good Luck!

I hang it to dry on a hook that I have inside my linen closet door so my cats won't eat it while I am at work.
