source for older model Remstar Auto w/c-flex?

Post by tommy » Thu Mar 27, 2008 9:59 am

I'm looking to buy the older Remstar Auto w/c-flex as a backup to my current machine. We are going on a 5 year voyage on a small boat and the current Remstar Auto (same machine) has about 8500 hours on it and I'm afraid it may die during my trip. I didn't want to be without my machine in some 3rd world country trying to find another machine.

I waited until last week after my yearly checkup and had them write me a RX for another machine that I plan to buy out of pocket. Apparently, CPAP.com and others are no longer selling that older machine since the M-series came out.

Does anyone know an internet source for the older Remstar? I wanted to buy the same machine since I could use the humidifier and other parts interchangeably. I saw the used unit on the Auction site, but I would rather not get a unit from a smoker. I'm real sensitive to smoke.

Thanks,

Tom

tommy,

The Legacy models in "new condition" are all gone. (I'm sad, too)
The only options are on CPAPAuction.com, private sellers, Craig lists, yard sales, etc.

Good luck in your search.

Hmmmmm.......there DO seem to be a few left.

I'm stocked up, but thanks for the info, Eric.

Funny. I just saw a BUNCH of old "tanks" on Seattle Craigslist yesterday. You might try surfing there.

Cheers,

Thanks, Babs.

I think Tom was looking for a new one, though.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered one for use as a spare.

After entering the order, I noticed that their instructions say that the Rx for an Auto must show both min and max pressure. My Rx is “CPAP, 13cm.” I hope they follow cpap.com’s policy that a CPAP RX will get me an Auto set up as a CPAP at 13cm. I would hate it if this were a problem.

I missed to boat in not buying one from cpap.com before they sold out.

Wayne

Hey Den, et al, I shoulda qualified the statement by saying the ones I saw yesterday on Seattle Craigslist were mostly VERY LOW MILEAGE models.

I was really tempted to email all the sellers with just CPAPTALK.COM in the email...

LOL,
Babs

Just curious - what currently is Respironics newest and greatest CPAP machine?

Wow. I'm not sure if I should be mad or glad. I had to run to an appointment and before I could get home and read all the posts as to where to find the machine I asked about. By the time I went to the website, I could not find the legacy machine anywhere. When I called them, they told me that the last one was bought by Wayne and they pulled it from the website....thanks a bunch Wayne!

Anyway, it just so happens that they had a reconditioned unit from Respironics. He explained to me that when a unit gets sent in for a problem, Respironics normally just sends a new unit rather than fix any almost-new machines and then puts the fixed machine back into the pipeline. Anyway this one was fixed, sterilized, and repackaged with a full 2 year warranty and included all manuals, filters and the data card. He sold it to me for $350...thanks a bunch Wayne.

It's on the way to me now.

Thanks to all,

Tom
