recommendations for masks with no forehead contact?
recommendations for masks with no forehead contact?
Hey...
The dermatologist is about to do something to my forehead area (which is a bit, uh, taller than average ) that will end up making it tender for a while, so my favorite Headrest nasal pillow style mask isn't going to work. Neither will my other nasal mask (whose name escapes me a the moment). I've got an old Mirage Swift I that fits pretty good except for some extra leakage (it's old), so I'll probably try the Swift II out and see how that goes. I've got an appt with my sleep doc's tech Monday to see what they have on hand and get it fitted...but if there's something else I can buy online to try, I've got no problem paying for something outside of insurance if it'll make sleep more comfy.
So I was wondering if anyone had any favorite nasal pillow style masks that don't touch the forehead area probably from about eyebrows back to about the middle of the top of the head?
Thanx!

Nasal Aire II. No forehead contact at all. In fact, little to no skin contact, other than interior of the nares.
See my Tip Sheet, in my sig line below.
Cheers,

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Yeah...maybe...when I look at the pictures for that on cpap.com, I envision strangling myself in the middle of the night, though (seems like a lot of hosing wandering around there)Babette wrote:Nasal Aire II. Actually...I was just browsing through the masks looking at anything that might fit the bill:
* NA II - seemed like a lot of hose...also, from the pics on cpap.com it looks like you'd be laying on the hose if you're a side sleeper (which I frequently do).
* Swift II - most similar to one I've used successfully before.
* Mirage Vista - maybe...I can't quite tell what that interface is -- something that goes over the nose, I guess...but they have some warnings on there about big noses (which might be a problem)
* Opus 360 - don't know much about it. looks similar to ones I've tried before...just different support straps/etc.
* Phantom Nasal Mask - don't know...looks different from others I've tried.
* SNAPP-X Nasal Prong Mask - kinda like a Swift but with hoses coming out both sides of the interface...I sleep a lot on sides or stomach and that looks like the hoses would get in the way a lot.
Still looking...
Thanx!

I hadn't thought of the full face masks because I'm pretty sure I don't mouth-breathe at all, I frequently have a beard and it just looks like more equipment bulk to get in the way. Of course, I've been doing CPAP for nearly 10 years and haven't really felt fully rested in a LONG time, so changing something might be good...
Thanx for the suggestions!
