The best machine available currently

Post by zorrro13 » Sat Mar 22, 2008 2:34 am

I'm looking to upgrade my resmed auto. I will keep it for travelling due to its compact size. What I want to buy is the latest technology available in a cpap Auto machine with exhale assistance with a good software programme . I still feel a bit tired on the resmed and zero mask leaks so maybe we don't get on that well. My pressure is around 11 and average AHI in auto 2.6 and in therapy around 18 mths
I'm outside the USA so no insurance available. Any recommendations and why did you make the choice you did?

I too think that the Respironics M Series Auto with A-Flex is the best machine right now. I have had it for just over a month now. It is so versitile. It can be run in auto mode or straight cpap mode. The A-Flex is so great! I have not tried the C-Flex yet but it has that too. My pressure is also around 11 and I have the same average AHI as you on this machine. I'm still wanting to get that AHI lower but do want to make changes too quickly. I had a straight cpap for 5+ years before this. I bought the integrated humidifier but have ordered the Fisher Paykal stand alone humidifier (about the same price as the integrated one). I have not had any yet but there are leak problems with the integrated humdifier on this machine. I bought it online and got no insurance help because I am in Canada and my company would not cover out of country purchases. The price was so great though! The shipping was reasonable. I bought, seperately, the Encore Viewer software and the card reader. A smart card came with the machine. I don't know what costs would be for shipping to where you are. I have read that Respironics is going to raise their prices after March 31 of this year so time may be of the essence!

Yup! I'm with ya' on the APAP! I don't need much, if any humidification, so the integrated humidifier works GREAT for me. But others need more, and so they got the big honking tank.

Cheers,
Babette

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

M series leads the way and after reading up I can see why. $579 on Cpap.com and $1300 in Australia My resmed was $2000 in Oz. I wonder why the M series is so cheap?relatively speaking

For a year, up until Thursday I was using a M Series BiPAP Auto with Heated Humidifier; unfortunately when I turned it off on Thursday morning it began beeping and flashing it's lights at me. I have to say I really have enjoyed the unit. I purchased it in a bundle with the humidifier and EncorePro software from CPAP.com on March 7 2007. Since it is going to require warranty work, and I HAVE to travel on Sunday, I began the mad scramble to find another machine before my deadline, and I have to say I think I got pretty lucky again. I found a guy in Dallas selling a brand-new, still sealed in-the-box ResMed VPAP Auto with HumidAire 3i all for $1000 US. I do have to say, the VPAP Auto is probably the most natural feeling breathing I have done on a CPAP/BiPAP in 3 years.

Sounds like a problem with the Smart Card. Did you try taking it out? (and re-inserting it?)

zorrro13, xPAPs are expensive outside the US. Take for example, in Singapore, a C-Flex APAP costs about twice the amount in the US. I bought A-Flex from cpap.com because it is too expensive in Malaysia (where I am staying), almost three times.

It is not just M Series, Resmed and other brands are also expensive outside the US. I considering to buy a backup unit, in view of rumours of Respironic is going to rise the price of their products in the US.
