Encore Viewer Questions
Encore Viewer Questions
Hi All,
I think I remember reading that Encore Viewer doesn't archive your data, so once the Smart Card fills up and your machine starts overwriting the old data, it's gone. Could someone please confirm that?
Also, is there any provision for updating the Encore Viewer software? I think I'm at 1.0.0.3. Usually there is either a download site or a built-in updating method, but I haven't been able to find one.
Thanks,
Andy

I don't have Viewer but I think you are correct about that it does not archive the data. I think the card will hold about 2 years of data. You can save it as a Adobe file if you want before it goes away. Many people save it and erase the card on a regular basis.
Respronics has no provision for updating programs except for "if you want the new version go buy it"! At least that is what they did on Pro. I would not hold my breath waiting for an upgrade, it is not very high on their list of things to do. JMHO!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting: "Wow what a ride!"

True. There are many different ways of storing/archiving your sleep data. It's just a metter of choosing a way that works for you.
I read my data daily. I have a folder titled Sleep Data. Inside that folder I have a folder for every day of the month, e.g., "2008-03-19". At the start of each new month I create a folder titled "February" or whatever for the past month and move all of the previous month's daily folders into it so I start the new month with an empty folder.
Each day when I read my card I save the EV report into that day's folder. Then I use cardutility from http://www.mycpap.org to save the card's data (a binary file) into that same folder. That way if I ever need to go back and see that day's actual, original data, I can.
Obviously some will want to do this less often. I have read here that the card only holds the _full_ data for something like seven days. So you would want to read it at least that often.

So does anyone have some fun graphs to show us? Like a year's worth of AHI or leak rates?
I'm just on a loaner machine at the moment but I plan to get the software and collect the data. I guess to get long-term graphs I'll have to enter the daily average indexes into Excel or something, is that correct?

Yeah, I do that. But then sometimes I can't believe how geeky I am.
By putting different data on different pages you can use color graphs that show the data nicely.
(For biipap) on one page I show max ipap, 90% ipap, 90% epap, and min epap. On another page I have snore, flow, ahi, hypopneas, OAs. On another page I have max leak, 90% leak, avg leak, and lg leaks.
On each page, for that page's data, I have the avg, min, and max for each item (column) for that month's data. That's a useful thing to see. (Especially for the DME or the doctor if you have an HMO. :)

I am new, and I have a question also about these cards. I have the CPAP I rented, an M Series Aflex running in CPAP mode, and a Res Pro 2 that is from a friend. I tried using his CPAP and like it better, but neither my card or his card works in his..it just beeps at me. I did lower the pressure on it from 12 to 9 to fit my RX. Could that be why it beeps? The error code is 101, I believe. (I am at work and can't check it.) What do I do to use either card and still track in the Pro 2? Also, when I gave my card to my Sleep Clinic to check on my progress for the past 3 weeks, they just said that I looked to be more compliant in using the M Series than most newbies, and that was great. I asked about my AHI and they said they did not track it, only in the lab, as they cannot account for leakage. I thougth that was a waste. They have the expensive software and don't even give me the details. Sigh.. Thanks, Alice
