Brand New A/Flex is dead!!!! HELP!!

Post by bap40 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 11:12 am

My brand new A/Flex has a big time problem. I noticed last night that the auto on and off was not working. This morning I wake up to all 3 LED lights flashing and the machine making beeping sounds. The screen says "service recommended" No data was recorded last night either. I did unplug and re-plug the machine and nothing changed. I do plan on calling my new and nice DME place first thing in the morning although I am half afraid they are going to say I did something to the machine and won't replace it for me......Has anyone had to return a machine due to malfunction and if so.. how did it go??? What can I expect???

It sounds like it may have gotten water in the machine. Are you using a humidifer with this unit? If so, it may be leaking into the machine. I have noticed my humidifer seal has a tendency to roll and not seal occasionally. I noticed it one time right after I turned my machine on and was able to catch it before it dumped water in the machine.

Just a thought...

The M Series integrated humidifier is notorious for its poor design. One has to be EXTREMELY careful when handling it to be sure it is sealed properly, etc. The humidifier is the most likely culprit but not necessarily THE culprit. Respironics makes a GOOD xPAP device. Hopefully, they will come up w/a better design in the future and move past this M Series. Respironics been a very innovative company and manufacturer of quality devices. There's no reason not to expect them to come up w/something better in the near future.

Even though it is a NEW machine, it has the older style humifier hook-up with the same length, size of, where it connects to the machine and not the newer different sized ones. I don't know what happened to it.

I am supposed to go in tomorrow AM and they will (according to the on call respiritory therepist) send it off to be repaired and give me a loner. I wonder if there will be a problem if it happens to be water damage????? I can't afford to buy my own, that is for sure and I love the A/flex!

When I buy mine I am really considering just buying the machine and getting the F & P 150 humidifier. I keep hearing nothing good about the one that goes with the machine.
