Sleeping positions
It's been a while since I've checked out this forum...so I feel like a brief recap is in order. I've been on CPAP therapy for about 3 1/2 years. And I've been almost 100% compliant (I say almost because now and again I'll doze off on the couch unintentionally). I lead a fairly active lifestyle but I'm taking measures to get into better shape (starting an exercise bootcamp on Monday....Lord have mercy!).
My issue lately has been waking up in the morning with extreme hip and shoulder pain. It's driving me crazy. I think I'm sleeping in the same position for most of the night so I'm assuming it's my mattress. I've had a check-up and I'm reasonably healthy for a 44-year-old woman. I ride horseback and teach tae kwon do and I know both sports can be tough on the joints but I know my limitations.
So my question is basically this, if you're getting really good sleep, do you change positions often in the middle of the night? I'm looking into buying either a Sleep Number bed or a Tempurpedic mattress. I think part of my issue is that I'm finally getting into a deep sleep and my mattress isn't giving me the support I need.
I appreciate any feedback.

Jeanne, had similar problems, than we bought a 5-layer memory foam mattress from Costco. Now no longer wake up with a dead fish for a arm. I still change position but not as much as before changing to the memory foam mattress.

bed
Hi, I love my solid latex mattress, it does not get hot like the memory foam mattress do.......also check out online about the sleep number bed retaining moisture from your body and creating mold.....Good Luck

No,no, not the Sleep Number Bed. A true waste of a lot of money. Purchased it a couple of years ago. It turns out that my sleep # and my husbands are only 5 digits apart - so no need to ever change the setting. Also, even if you get the more expensive model it's just like sleeping on an air mattress with a foam topping. Don't waste your money!
I also have hip pain from repetitive exercise. It went to the doc and he said I had Greater Trocanteric Bursitis. He says there are exercises that can help or a cortisone shot.

It sounds like our opinions and preferences for beds are as mixed as our mask preferences. Only makes sense since we're all different body styles, and have different "issues".
I read last night, that most of the more expensive beds allow you a free trial of a few months, if you ask. The economy is so bad, I doubt they are selling a lot of high price beds right now, so it might be worth asking for a trial.
I have to say, my preference is the Kingsdown adjustable bed. (Their softest model.) A very generous person bought me one as a gift.
I found my relatives Temperpedic bed never softened up enough for me, and I previously had a 4" foam topper, which was too hot for me.
Just my 2 cents.....Good luck with finding YOUR perfect fit.

You might want to see a physical therapist. I had problems with my hips and lower back and it was especially painful in the morning. After going to the physical therapist and doing the stretches and exercises I have no more pain in the morning. Since you say you teach Tae Kwon Do I am sure you are familiar with how important stretching can be.
Agreeing with the memory foam topper - most dept. stores are now selling them.
Also agreeing with the Kingsdown - if your wallet can handle it. At least give it a try if you are going out shopping.
I had a Sleep Number bed - the idea does sounds great - sleeping on air - but what you are actually sleeping on is a bladder filled with air. So what happens when you press down on one spot? It pushes the air some where else. Remember how you make a dog out of a loong ballon - squeeze here to push air there? They do get hard, too.

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?
