Today's streaming news......WTF?

General Discussion on any topic relating to CPAP and/or Sleep Apnea.

Do you think it's acceptable to post totally off-topic news stories and label them "Streaming CPAP and Sleep Apnea News"?

Yes, I don't mind these stories.

No, when I come to cpaptalk.com, I only want to read about OSA and CPAP!

Today's streaming news......WTF?

Post by BigGayBert » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:05 pm

Has anybody read today's news story about the man's widows suing each other?

http://www.philly.com/dailynews/local/2 ... laims.html

Can anyone explain how any of that article has anything to do with Sleep Apnea or CPAP????? It took me about 2 minutes to read the article (because I had to re-read it, thinking for certain that I had somehow missed the part about OSA or CPAP). Somebody at cpaptalk.com owes me those 2 minutes of my life back! .

Reference to OSA

Post by papoose » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:29 pm

Bert,

I read the article, too, and found that the link to OSA was a stretch. You may have stopped reading by the time it appeared obscurely near the end of the article...
About 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, court papers charge, Myra Morton fatally shot Jereleigh Morton, 47, twice in the head - once in his left cheek and once above his left eye - as he lay sleeping in their bed. He was wearing a breathing mask for his chronic sleep apnea.

papoose is right...I skimmed the article on down until I saw the quoted paragraph.

I think (not sure) that Johnny probably uses some kind of program that finds news articles with a keyword like "apnea" in it. That's how some of the streaming news articles appear here even if, as you said, Bert, the article itself really has nothing to do with OSA.

Since by far most of the streaming news articles really are about sleep disorders, I don't mind the occasional off-track article getting into the mix just because of a single mention of that magic word "apnea."

I never stopped to think about that. Thanks for explaining it to me! I knew I must be crazy....I was all, "this doesn't seem like something Johnny would do!".

Have a great evening, everyone! .

People in all walks of life and death have (or had) Sleep Apnea. Some times these stories are just ones where the reporter mentions there is someone with sleep apnea in them.

It is OSA awareness, however, in this particular article, the awareness wasn't one most of us would like to be remembered by --- dieing from a gun shot wound by the mask.

So, when James Bond is diagnosed with OSA, will Q make him a bullet proof mask to wear at night?

Personally, I think it's a wake-up call to all the men on this board that think their wives WON'T shoot them in their sleep...

Gotta give the wife credit though. She shot her hubby twice in the face/head, but didn't hit the mask.

OK, I finally get it. His crime was mouth-breathing. My wife usually just hits me for that. .

I see from the female responses here though that I need to think about this some more.

Does it say what mask/machine he was on? Should we worry if we see a used version of those for sale on cpapauction anytime soon?

And as for shooting people for mouth breathing... Trust me, my ex-BF would gladly have shot me in my sleep, if it would have meant a better night for him!

LOL,
B.
