Other data-download capable machines

Post by Capri » Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:17 am

Are there any other CPAP data-download capable machines available that produce true detailed reports - not just useage summaries, other than ResMed and Respironics?

Thank you - C.

P&B 420e

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

DeVilbiss

Post by BigGayBert » Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:29 am

Hi Capri,

I'm pretty sure that the DeVilbiss RPM AutoAdjust collects data (I read that from someone here and now I can't find it) but it looks like Cpap.com is out of stock.

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/devil ... 9054d.html

Considering that DeVilbiss just put out the IntelliPAP, I don't know if Cpap.com will ever get any more. DeVilbiss claims that the new IntelliPAP will have wonderful software and data recording abilities, but it doesn't exist as of yet and who wants to spend all that money on something that may or may not ever come to fruition.

Best of luck to you!!!
Bert =)

Exactly what they said.

Some Puritan Bennett machines that record full data:

420SP (straight cpap)
420E (autopap)

Silverlining software is used with PB machines. Can't bring up any data in the LCD window on the machine. Have to have the software, which is my favorite of all the manufacturers' software.

One of the many ways the Silverlining software can display the data is in a very detailed "96 hour" graph....my favorite way to look at my 420E's data. Shows about two weeks worth of consecutive sessions side-by-side before older details are overwritten by newer.

It's easy to save the detailed data downloads, simply by renaming the ".pat" file after you do a download.

The PB machines don't use a card or card reader. They use a download cable you can buy:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/purita ... cable.html

or make:
http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-b ... php?t=5067
-SWS and dizzy discuss how to make a download cable for the Puritan Bennett 420E

You carry the little, lightweight machine and its power cord to your computer -- or carry your computer to the machine.

When I got a computer that had only USB ports and no serial port, I had to purchase a "serial to USB" adapter to connect the PB's serial plug cable to the new computer.

If computer is in another room and you don't want to bother carrying the machine to the computer, there was a cool hint posted by loonlvr a long time ago... just add a long telephone extension cord. I did that. Worked fine.

Here are some screen shots of the Silverlining software's detailed 96 hour graph:

Some of the shots have comments added by me, using PaintShopPro. Those comments aren't added in the software itself.

I really love my PB 420e!! It's everything Rested Gal said. The files are small, so you can store them every day, every week, or every 12 days. The software is very easy to install, and while it's not super-intuitive, you get the idea after selecting different icons and seeing what's displayed. I use the phone extension cord also, to connect to the desktop in the next room.

Good luck with your selection. Let us know what you decide to get!

Cathy

Thanks to all of you for your support and kindness. 1 month ago I knew nothing about CPAP even though I'd "owned" (not necessarily used) a CPAP since 2001. My current machine is a rental from the DME, per my insurance. I'm considering returing it and getting one with software that's even better than ResScan. Now this is not to criticize ResMed or their equipment - I do think it's amazing. But I'm a geek and I want more!

LOL!!! Well, we all have our pet peeves, and I've posted many a rant about other things. I understand what you mean, but yeah... I think it's ok. As long as the same person doesn't do it over and over, that is! In that case, I think the person ought to take it to cpapauction. But an occasional post by an individual with his/her own equipment to swap or even to sell...that doesn't bother me.

As long as the forum administrators don't seem to mind the occassional posting here, then I see nothing wrong with someone occassionally posting here to sell something. Especially if it might help someone out who doesn't check out cpapauction.com and it is obvious they are selling for a reasonable price, or if the price is negotiable. Some folks who don't have insurance might come across a post of a machine such as the one recently posted for 200.00 and could really use that kind of a deal to get the treatment they desperately need and they may not look on cpapauction.com just figuring there would be nothing there they could afford. Or they may be able to negotiate a more affordable price for them, and feel less intimidated if it is listed in the forum rather than cpapauction.com. And looking to do a swap as in nasal pillow sizes is definitely ok IMHO. It helps both the swapper and the swapee. If it is infuriating to you, then just skip those posts. We have been swapping on here for a very long time, and I have both given others what they have needed, and recieved in return. It works for us.

Swap/Sell

OK - I didn't think about the difference between swapping and selling. Thanks. Sorry I brought it up

There is also a difference IMHO between putting up an item for sale with a firm price and a 14 day auction.

Some people would rather not mess with the uncertainty of an auction, just name their price and be done with it quickly (which you can't do on cpapauction.com to my knowledge).

I see nothing wrong with that,
