I don't know why not. CPAP.COM (I believe) ships to most parts of the world. There ARE restrictions about ResMed products being sold outside of the various countries (ResMed policy), but if it isn't that brand, I don't think there would be a problem.

Go to the main website https://www.cpap.com and e-mail them with your question(s).

Den

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

Hi Kip,
It would be better if you had someone bring the stuff to Israel. Otherwise, delivery raises the price tremendously, and the you have to pay VAT מע"מ , and a charge to the delivery company as well. I don't know about customs - check that before you make your final decision.

I considered buying my machine in the States, because I was on my way there at the time (I live in Israel) but eventually decided to buy locally. I did use internet price lists as a bargaining chip - and was gives some extra replacement parts for the mask. I have "Bituach Mushlam" (additional insurance) which pays part of the machine's price - if you have that, the part they pay would depend on your Kupa's policy (insurance company) some are better than others.

I would not hesitate at all to buy a machine from cpap.com if I lived in the states, and I would buy my backup machine from them - if I had the money. However, it turned out I was lucky to have bought locally - my machine died after about a year (still in warranty), and I received a replacement the day after speaking to agent who sold it.

I did order my favorite mask - the Headrest from cpap.com. It was unavailabel here, and I really wanted to try it. Delivery was an additional $50 if I remember correctly - 2.5 years ago.

I get filters, masks and mask parts now from cpap.com, and have them delivered to wherever my friends and relatives are staying the States.

Edit: You will need humidifier - and you may want to order that online to Israel.
Good luck!
O.

I can't imagine it being otherwise - though people vary. I need mine - a heated one in Jerusalem most days of the year, though rarely, on bad khamsin's I will turn the heat off, and even disconnect the heated hose...

(A heated hose is something many of us need to avoid water condensing in the hose, it's more important for those of us with lower pressure. You can wait with that till you find out if you need it - and you may want to wait till next winter for that...)

For $3000 you could just about buy a plane ticket, fly to the states, pick it up from cpap.com and fly home again. You'd get a free holiday and still have some change!

So ... say, just hypothetically ... that a citizen of Israel is in the U.S. on vacation and buys a machine (legally, with a prescription). When he returns home he brings it onboard the plane as a carry-on item. Is that a problem?

Good point. I recommend using a high quality surge protector. Not a cheap low quality one, because they die and then your machine is not protected. Your machine will last longer and have fewer problems if you do. Particularly where the power is erratic (surges, transients, on/off).

I can't speak for Israel, but in South Africa, theoretically you are not supposed to do that, but almost everyone who travels has done it.

When times were tougher over here, and exchange controls were in strict force, you had to declare what you took with you, so that when you got back you'd be charged duty for whatever you bought outside the country. What then happened was that you'd decide what you were going to buy before you left, and declare it to customs. But then they decided to physically check everything as it left too, so that loophole was closed.

Now that we have a democracy (albeit a slightly corrupt one) we have more freedom, but they will still try to get 14% VAT out of you.

These days with buying on the internet, the world has become a much smaller place....
