Question/Problem re: Resmed S8 Series II Spirit

Post by GagReflex » Thu Mar 06, 2008 5:54 am

Finally bought my own machine today.. I went for the S8 Spirit II (I think these are called the Autoset Vantage in the US??)

My question is:
When I turn the unit off it continues to blow a small (but obvious) amount of air. I tried leaving it for around 30-40 minutes and went back and it was still blowing a small amount of air
If I pull the plug, wait a moment and plug it back in, it's fine, no air blows.

Is it faulty??. As I said it's brand new today..

Thanks,
John.

My Spirit (not II) does that too. It's to dry the hose and mask out.

Ahhh!.. So it's normal then?
How long does it do that before it shuts off?.

I've been through the manual and it mentions nothing about it

Thanks heaps, I thought I had bought a lemon!

I also thought mine was a dud at first - till I saw someone else posting about it. I have no idea how long it does that for, I am normally out the house quite soon after I get up. I'm trying to do the whole gym thing. In the dark.

That's intentional behaviour. It is to clear out any condensed mositure which may have accumulated in the hose and mask overnight, by using the open air "circuit" that is available after you have removed the mask.

It will stop after a while (I've never timed how long it runs, as I generally switch my S8 off at the power point within 30 mins of waking).

Cheers,

Bill
