"The Reasons Why"

Post by kluzo » Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:34 am

As a hockey coach I sometimes bang my head on the wall in frustration with the players I coach or sometimes the parents. HOWEVER, I have found that over the years I have kept the cards & nik-naks that the kids have gotten for me over the years. If I am having a difficult time with a player or parent and want to just throw in the towel I always go back to the envlope marked "The Reasons Why" This always cheers me up and helps me prepare for the next game/practice. WELL, yesterday as I got home from work my son (6) came and asked me if we could play hockey. (hallway hockey with mini sticks & foam ball) He was all excited with his goalie pads & mask on as this was a routine question when I get home. My normal answers used to always be "In a little bit buddy... daddy is tired" Being on my apap for the last 3 weeks or so that answer has changed to "YOU GOT IT BUDDY!" It was during our hallway hockey game that the "The Reasons Why" envolpe came into my head and I realized that I now have "The Reasons Why" to use the apap.

This form seems like a small little community so I thought I would share my thoughts with you all.

Cheers

kluzo, I loved that! A beautiful story well told.

What a wonderful thing that "cpap" has given you the energy to enjoy your young son's energy. And that "cpap" has given your son a father who feels good enough to play with him.

Living life is what it's about. Hooray for you. And hooray for "cpap."

That is so awesome, Kluzo. It is worth every ounce of persistence we use on our treatment to be a vital and integral part of our family's life!

Congrats, and well done!

I am in charge of the Relay for Life in my town. That is the American Cancer Society's major fundraiser to find a cure for Cancer. Not at all related to CPAP or sleep apnea, but very similar in the passion people feel about treatment and finding a cure or a good treatment. When planning the Relay gets real crazy, and more work than feels possible, I have a "Reasons Why" folder that I get out and read through to keep myself going. I guess I never looked at needing a "reasons Why" folder for other things, but I guess it is a good idea for every part of your life. There is a story about Relay for life and why it is done the way it is and it goes on about the long nights and the suffering alone why other people sleep around you. I am not trying to belittle cancer by any means, or make sleep apnea into a cancer, but the story really struck me. People with sleep apnea do kind of suffer alone in the sense that people without it don't really understand, even thought they say they do. I am sorry to go on and on about a non-related topic , but I am a sucker for motivational stories
like yours. I hope that your "reasons why" folder keeps you going strong!

YUP!

Great story, and while I don't have kids, I have a hundred similar "reasons why" I keep using my cpap.

Right now, the NEARLY CLEAN HOUSE is my biggest reason why. I can see my dining room floor for the first time in over a year.

It's not spotless yet, but when it is, I'll post pix.

Hugs,
Babs

I do realize that a lot of people on here have their "Reason Why" and this is really something that I should have done several years ago (sleep test) but it was just something that flash in my mind while playing a simple game with my son. I guess in a sence you could say that my life flashed before my eyes on what I was able to do in the last few weeks or so being on my apap opposed to what I was unable to do before my cpap theropy. "Guest" I hope to see pic's of you clean house soon! and KansasRT... my hat goes off to you for being involved in something like that. I have a player that their father was hit with cancer 4 or 5 days before christmas. He was suppose to start kimo (sorry don't know how to spelll it!) in mid/late January and past away just a couple of days after New Years Eve. I have yet to talk to the player or the wife as I can not relaite directly on what they have just gone through, Both of my parents are still alive. However I do have the cancer symbles on order to put on all our players jerserys in his memory as he has been involved with the leage for a good number of years. I have coached his child twice before and I am sure that the child (15) or family is asking the simple question "WHY". However it really is stating to get off topic... sorry about that.

Cheers!

Way to go, Kluzo! I agree. I just started CPAP therapy about 3 weeks ago, and the change in me is also amazing. I don't have kids, but things are getting back on-track for my life as well. Your son is one lucky young man!

thanx for the bump. I was just explaining this story to a buddy of mine that I just found out that he is on cpap as well. I was telling him that he had to come on here and check out all these great people that will answer your questions that you have.
