Need smart advice

Post by Vonon » Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:24 pm

I have been on cpap for about a year. The Remstar Plus that was provided to me tells me nothing about how my therapy is going. Couldn't get my provider to even loan me a Pro model for a week so I could check. So I bought my own machine (Remstar Auto) and now wish I understood all the posts about smartcards and software that I have read here.

Can someone please just tell me what I need to get? As always your help is greatly appreciated.

Vonon,
The newer, M series machines report some data on an LCD. Older ones don't even do that.

Respironics sells the "Encore Viewer" that let you views details of your nightly results on your computer.

The data has to be moved from the machine, where it is gathered, to your computer, where you can study it.

When you insert a smart card in the machine, it will write the data on the smart card. Then you can take the smartcard to your computer.

You need a smart card reader connected to your computer, for the computer to read the data from the smartcard.

So the minmum you need:

1. Smartcard - to be inserted in the machine
2. Smartcard reader - to be connected to your computer
3. Software (Encore Viewer) to gather the data from the smartcard for you and present it on your computer screen.
