Help with Encore Pro Re-Installation Please!

Post by tiredofbeingsleepy » Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:27 pm

Hi! It's been ages since I've logged in, it seems! Life is very busy. CPAP is going great and I'm feeling good. My AHI's have been averaging under 4 and I use it every night.

I've got a problem with trying to re-install my Encore Pro 1.8.49 software though and really need some help!
We recently had a computer virus and in the process of getting rid of it I think part of the program, more specifically the Database Server (SQL server, think?) was removed. I uninstalled Encore pro and then did a search on the computer with those words and removed everything from my computer.
I then tried to re-install Encore Pro but keep getting the "connection failed, a valid log in with administrater privleges is required for this database server" message and can't get any further along in the installation process. I don't remember if there is a code or password I used or not, but thought if I un-installed everything I could start over......wrong.

Any suggestions as to how to start over? I hope someone can help as I very much like to be able to see the data!

Tracy

You should be able to re-install it until you get it right.
You do NOT want to set a password in Encore Pro.
Is there an option to select "single computer" or "server installation"? (or something like that) If so, I'm sure you'd want to select the option for a single computer.
Is the SQL server running?
Is the SQL server manager running and is the database selected?

Was the card reader driver installed from the Encore Pro CD?

Do not connect the cardreader through a hub.....especially an unpowered one.

I think the problem is the Database, SQL server appears to not be there. Is it possible it was deleted? It appears that is the case, as it says "attempting to connect to the data base server.....after a while up pops, connection failed a valid log in with admin priv is required.

There is an option in the above mentioned screen that says "change server selection", but when I click that, the first option "install New Server" is light gray and not an option to click on it.
The only option available is the Database Server name (in a drop down thing), which apparently really isn't there, since it can't find it......

I clicked on f1, for installation help and it does say the following:
"The option may be unavailable and unselected if an instance name for the database server already exists....."

The problem is, I'm pretty sure it's not there.....the little picture of it in my toolbar is no longer there and a thorough search of it in the entire system can't find it.....but this Encore installation wizard thinks it's still there.

I also deleted all of the card reader stuff, so it shouldn't be on there to interfere and it's not connected.

I'm so frustrated!

Ok. Never mind my above reply! I figured out where the SQL was hiding and was successful in deleting it and then re-installing Encore Pro. Yay!
Now i'm in the process of trying to install my card reader......I can't remember how I did that before though.
I know that I'm supposed to install the card reader driver by running "setup.exe" or just set up from the Smart Card Readers in the Folder on the Encore Pro CD but I can't seem to access that area on the CD.

When I put the Encore Pro CD in my computer, there are only three options 1) Install
2) View Tutorials
3) Read Reports/Manuals
Where do I find the Folders on the Encore Pro CD?

You should be able to do a Right-click on your CD drive in My Computer and select "Explore". Then you can see where the files are.

Assuming that 1.8 is like the previous versions, make sure the Reader is not plugged in when installing the software (Setup.exe). Then re-boot the machine and let it find the device. If you get a message about it not being Microsoft compliant or registered (or whatever) just click through that (tell it that it's OK).

Ok, that's right....now I remember. Thank you for your help! I found that section!! I really appreciate it!
After spending literally HOURS and HOURS on the phone getting my major computer problems resolved this week, I was frustrated to find out my encore program wasn't working, I was thinking, not again!?!?!
It appears to be working now.
Thanks so much!!!

I know exactly how frustrated you feel, I went throught the same thing a couple of weeks ago with my computer and had to re-install everything. Fortunately though, mine installed ok. But I lost a lot of data in my Encore Analyzer. It only went back 4 days of recording. Oh well....

It was very frustrating. I lost all of the data but I had made copies of the summary each time I downloaded my card, so I'm glad I have that part!
Hopefully my computer problems are over!
