- How does the accuracy of the AHI calculated by the CPAP compare with that derived from the sleep study? My AHI was 85 during the study.
I don't know ... it *seems* to me that the number is greatly affected by leak rate, but I don't know for sure.
Personally I don't put a whole lot of faith in the sleep study numbers. They have much better equipment and gather far more data, however it's so uncomfortable that I can't imagine how they can possibly consider it a representative sleep period.

The red line indicates the max leak rate that the machine can compensate for. If your machine is configured properly for the mask you use then the mask flow rate is subtracted out. A displayed leak rate of zero is therefore ideal.
BTW the red line position is configurable in the preferences menu. The default is theoretically appropriate for the S8 but if you're trying to improve mask fit you might try setting it lower as a "goal line". :-)

As I understand it, the number is the duration of the apnea event (it's also the height of the lollipop). Hypo events don't have a number.
I tend to discount apnea events that show up right at the start of the session; in my case it's more likely me fiddling with the mask trying to get it to quit leaking. YMMV.
