rainout? tried search w/no luck

Post by debstieb » Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:24 pm

About three hours after falling asleep I wake up with a lot of condensation in my mask. It is to the point of choking me. I only have my humidifier set at 1, so I was just wondering if anyone had an inexpensive suggestion that may work for me.

I have tried the search but I never have any luck with it.

Thanks,

Deb

Try a flannel cover over the hose. Pad-A-Cheek on this board makes and sells them or you might contact Sleepy Carol and see if she has any left. She made some and was giving them away until she deleted the list of people that wanted one off her computer. (None of us has ever done that before!)

The only other fix is a heated hose from Australia.

I will try that. Can you tell me why this is happening lately? It really isn't that cold in my house so I don't know why the humidity.

Thanks,

Deb

Here is a link to something cheaper then the aussie hose. I haven't tried it myself but I bet it would work. For myself, I just use a snuggle cover and put the Xpap on the floor so if I do get rainout it runs down hill back to the humidifer. The other thing you can try to do is well sleep with the hose under the covers with you that will warm it up enough most times to stop the water.

I've had better luck using the "site" feature with Google. So instead of using this site's search feature, you enter our search terms in Google followed by: site: cpaptalk.com

try the following:

Deb,
Yes, the humidity inside and outside the house, as well as temps in both locations, play roles in rainout or no rainout. I say that because no home is sealed and thoroughly isolated from outside effects. The temperature setting on the humidifier also affects the mix.

With the information provided, NO.
So anything we say is merely a guess. My guess is something changed

Instead of asking more questions I will say, if you have whatever kind of machine you have on 1 , then either turn it down more or turn it off. Either of those will certainly fix the problem.

Good Luck,

I've found that the two biggest things for me are to use a good quality hose cover (thick, not thin) to insulate the hose and to set it below bed level (on the floor).

The one and only time I've had rainout with my current equipment, I overfilled it (beyond the fill line).
