I'm so glad you're here

Post by Beulah » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:57 pm

I was diagnosed with OSA about a month ago, had the second test last week and used my machine for the first time last night. I found this forum before my second test (with the CPAP), and have been reading as much as time allows.

I cannot tell you how glad I am that this site/forum is here and that you all are so smart and kind in sharing what you've learned. What I'd learned here helped me soooooooooo much getting through that first CPAP night in the hospital, during my time with the DME, and most importantly, wrapping my brain around the fact that I'm going to be hooked up to a machine every night for the foreseeable future. (I'm still pretty iffy on that last one.)

Anyway, I hope you all realize what a wonderful, WONDERFUL place this is and how incredibly helpful and encouraging it is to those of us just starting out.

Paula

Congratulations on your first night!!

Take it one day at a time. Don't worry about the future -- it isn't here yet. The past is history so all we have is today.

It will get easier and I know for myself I can't imagine NOT using my apap now. I do sleep so much better with it and although I am not as rested as I wish I were it is better. The other option is to choke and suffocate part of the night and that is not acceptable to me.

Remember if you have problems come back here and post what the problem seems to be -- someone will answer and hopefully will have some great ideas on how to fix it.

Hello & Welcome, Paula! You're so fortunate to have found this forum so soon--took me over a year after diagnosis and beginning CPAP before I found cpaptalk.com. Hoping this forum is as helpful for you as it has been for me!

What they all said!
I couldn't wrap my mind around the whole thing a few months back, but with the knowledge, compassion and humor of this group, I now feel that I can do this. In fact, I couldn't NOT do it!

Why, hello Miss Paula. Welcome to these parts, ma'am. I'm not much of a guide myself, but others here'bouts can get you to where you need to be.... pronto. Now, don't trust the stiff suits too much. But you can sure trust the myth busters and fact diggers who know the mountains, valleys most every inch of the fertile plains. Enjoy your stay, ma'am. Oh, and be mindful to smile often, 'cause smiles feed the Sun... so they say.

Welcome, Paula....
