Zyrtec is out over the counter

Post by Sleepy Dog Lover » Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:03 pm

I knew it was coming out soon, but I just bought some at the store. It was on sale for $18.99 for 30. Definitely more expensive than the generic claritan, but Zyrtec works soooo much better for me and my insurance wouldn't cover it when it was prescription.

Just wanted to let everybody know. Woo-Hoo

I picked up some at kaiser. one hundred tabs for $9.00. It is the generic (cetrizine). I don't think you have to be a member to get that price. The generic works the same as the brand name for me. Try to google cetrizine to see if you can get a better price.

Thanks for the info. I was just sooooo happy to see it I didn't care at that moment. In the long run, I really do care, so it is good to know for the future.

This is great news, I need to see if it works as well as Allegra for me.

Since it went over the counter my insurance will not pay for it. I couldn't find a generic over the counter Zyrtec but the pharmacy has it now and with a script it is a lot cheaper than over the counter Zyrtec (no insurance involved). You might check with your druggist and see about getting it cheaper in the generic form with a script.

I've been using it the past few days and have felt really irritated, and had a tickle in my throat and am coughing more. I may go back to generic claritin.
