Hi guys,
This is my first post on CPAP Talk, having just found this site from a search and I'm hoping some of you have had any issues similar to mine.
I've been using a CPAP for several years now but for the past few months I seem to have been developing either a rash or pimples in an area of my forehead where the straps of my mask wraps around my head.
I have to admit that I haven't been washing the straps too often, but is it really something that could cause this? It's the first time this has happened.
What would you recommend? I'll make sure to soak the straps tonight and clean the mask properly, but is there anything else I should do or avoid? Also, would it be safe for me to try anti-zit/pimple products such as Oxy, or should I wait it out and see if it improves down the line?
Some info:
- I'm 23. Never really had any issues with pimples.
- No allergies to any kind of silicone, or any other products from the mask.
- The wraps seem to be some kind of stretchable cloth. I'm sorry, I really don't know what it is.
- The mask has a few months wear; no issues during the few months though.
I'll try to remember to find the exact mask's model/type later if it can help ID any specific issues with it maybe.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate any help or advice.

Hi Rick, you might try Padacheeks protections pads. I use one for my forehead and I know she makes them for the straps of the headgear too. Look online at http://www.padacheeks.com for these. They are inexpensive and can be washed.
Good luck,

I am prone to adult acne. If I am not meticulous about cleanliness of
straps or fleece strap covers breakouts occur. The problems are fewer if I wash headgear, or at least the pad-a-cheek covers, about every 4 days. Also, cleaning of the facial area before bed is a must for me.
I use very warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent for it, and do a thorough rinsing.
