Is it correct that the AHI number in a sleep lab report is calculated from the events divided by the hours actually slept, while the AHI on the report from a RemStar Encore report is the events divided by the blower time? So, if the machine is running, but I am awake a lot of the night (and I would not be having events while awake) my AHI will appear to be better=lower than on nights when I sleep more and have events while sleeping, given the blower time is the same? So, how reliable are the numbers unless I am asleep the same amount of time? And, I wake up 10-15 times a night that I know of, even with CPAP.
AHI from sleep labs different from auto machine results
In my opinion, a person has to take both situations with a grain of salt. One night of lousy sleep in a sleep lab vs. every night in the comfort of one's own bed but maybe some false readings......??? I'll take the comfort of my own environment ANY night!!!

That's why you are suppose to use the machines to sleep with, not to watch T.V., read a book, pet the Kitty, ect.
IF your blower time was 8 hours, and you laid there trying to (play) the machine instead of sleeping for 2 hours, you just count the events for the last 6 hours. and divide by 6, instead of 8. Jim
