Comfort Lite 2 VS Headrest thoughts?
I am looking to find a mask that will allow me to sleep on my stomach. The Swift 2 doesn't allow me to do that. It also forces me to sleep on one side and that is causing me some hip pain.
I have a Comfort Lite 2, but need to buy the large size nasal pillows. Since I have to spend money anyway, I was wondering what people thought who have tried both masks.

i've used both, though i'm a side sleeper
i loved the CL2 until my septoplasty...since then, for some unknown reason, i just can't get it to work for me, it leaks and it hurts
i love the (decapitated) headrest, it is my favourite so far...
lots of folks love the NAII, though, for side and stomach sleeping

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got...
Having used both, I like the CL2 better. It seems quieter to me. I sleep well in any position with it. With any nasal mask I need to tape my mouth shut. Lately I've been using the original comfortlite headgear.

I find the headgear to be more comfortable and stable. I don't need any extra straps for stability.

I used the CL2 for several months and then tried the Headrest for awhile. I've settled back on the CL2 with the Direct Seal interface.
Headrest good points:
It's lighter
I liked the way it contoured closer to the face than the CL2.
The vent port blowing straight up instead of out was really nice.
Headrest problems (for me):
I had a hard time keeping a good seal. Several times a night I'd wake up and have to adjust it.
It's noisier than the CL2.
I never could get a good snug fit with the headgear. This probably exacerbated the leakage problem.
In fairness, I never did try the tights trick to stabilize it, that might have helped with the leaks.
Both masks work well for side sleeping. I'm not a stomach sleeper so I can't attest to that but I suspect the Headrest would be better since the mask fits so much closer to the face.

I wouldn't be able to wear the Headrest with its headgear at all, if I didn't use the leg cut off a pair of tights as an "extra" strap around it. That mask would be useless to me without that homemade strap. I wouldn't be able to wear it for fifteen minutes, the leaks would be so bad.gl wrote:In fairness, I never did try the tights trick to stabilize it, that might have helped with the leaks.
With the addition of that simple strap, the Headrest has been my favorite every-night mask for over two years.

I consider myself a 1/2 side - 1/2 stomach sleeper. I can't stay on my hips for long-- so often, with a body pillow or a pillow under my top arm and top leg I sleep "in between" ... more than on my side, but not quite all the way on my stomach.
Not to mention that I do this throughout the nite... first on one side, then the other to relieve the pain from pressure points.
I want to get a second mask and I'm gravitating towards choosing between the Headrest and CL2. I'll be interested in more responses in this thread.
Right now my concerns are that some people say that the "weight" of the headgear for CL2 tends to slip around and is not as good for stomach sleepers.
My concern for the headrest is that it's easily destablized unless I tie tights around to secure it. Which makes me wonder if it's just better to go with a more secure nasal pillow head gear. But I'm not sure what that would be since I was not real happy with the Optilife or old style Opus.

I'm a side sleeper and switch sides two or three times per night for the same reasons as you. I haven't had any problems with it shifting. I do keep my hair cut pretty short though, I found that when my hair gets longer the head gear doesn't feel as solidly planted.TossinNTurnin wrote: Right now my concerns are that some people say that the "weight" of the headgear for CL2 tends to slip around and is not as good for stomach sleepers.
Of the two, the Headrest was the more comfortable. But of the THREE - I prefer the Nasal Aire II.
You KNEW I was going to say that, didn't you?
It's cheaper..

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Oh, and I'm a side sleeper. Except when my back is aching, then I sleep sort of twisted half on my side, and half on my stomach.
NAII is the only mask I've used that lets me moosh my face into my pillow anyway I want without dislodging or blocking the vents. And I can use my OWN pillow - no fancy pillow needed.
Cheers,
B.

I may have to give this a chance one of these nights. It's just going to be a bit wierd, me going in to buy tights.rested gal wrote: I wouldn't be able to wear the Headrest with its headgear at all, if I didn't use the leg cut off a pair of tights as an "extra" strap around it. FN, the NAII vents straight DOWN your body, but I like to twist the cannula so that it's sort of halfway between horizontal and straight down.
It's totally possible to find a way to keep from blowing air on her. Your FIANCEE, I mean.

Sleeping on the tubing that go over the ears looks uncomfortable to me. And couldn't it restrict airflow.Babette wrote:Of the two, the Headrest was the more comfortable. But of the THREE - I prefer the Nasal Aire II.

I worried about sleeping on the tubing but Jerry and Babs convinced me it could be done and I haven't had any trouble sleeping on my sides.
The tubing doesn't smoosh down and restrict the air flow and isn't really noticable.
For an active sleeper I would choose the NasalAire or the Headrest if it were me.

I too have to have over-the-head routing. I wear it in what we call "pony tail" style, routing it over my head, and then the main cpap hose travels along the top of the mattress where it hits the headboard, and off to the machine.
No restrictions on movement. And no restrictions on airflow. I can't explain why the NAII tubes are both comfortable to sleep on, and don't cut off the airflow, but that's the case.
Cheers,
Babs
