Sounds like you're doing EXACTLY what I do. You'll get used to it.

One thing I do is jam my fat little face into the pillow, which necessarily will push on the cannula. If I do that too hard, it can pop right out of my nose. I've done it so much, I can adjust pretty much in my sleep. And sometimes I just need to wake up enough to tell myself "Move to edge of pillow" and then do that. Actually, I lift my head, and scoot the pillow back until my mask is hanging off the edge. No need to shift the whole body into a cold spot.

So happy you're not hating the NAII! I feel so bad when I talk someone into it, then they hate it.

Cheers,
Babs

Don't try to shove it up your nose. It has a place in the lower nostril where it will fit like a hand in a glove with the rim just inside your nose. Sort of a sweet spot. Just dont try to shove it up higher than 1/8th inch and youll be fine. It will not fall out.

I tried the nasalaire 2 in the sleep center last year and the pharmacy gave me the swift instead. I wish I would have been given the nasalaire 2 like I tried in the center. It was very comfortable. Unfortunately, Ive lost my insurance and I still use my tired old swift. I should have complained. Oh well.

Guest, I got a NAII off of cpcpauction.com for $25. Had to watch for a bit but $25 was just about what my deductable on my insurance was from a DME.

Hate to see someone go without a NAII just because of cost.

Jerry

Well, I only made it until about 1am last night before I took off the mask. My nose was a bit tender and I was in the restless sleeper mode last night. I'll try again tonight. I don't think I am going to push it while my nose is tender - might have to work up to wearing it all night, but that is okay.

Allison, sounds very reasonable for being new to therapy.

I still have "bad nights," too. Particularly during the week I was so congested. I went five nights without much sleep at all, and NO cpap.

Take it easy, and work your way up to it. It took me 6 weeks to sleep all night with the mask. Some people take even longer. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Hugs,
B.
