need to help my dad.. can't get humidifier to work

Post by canyongirl » Wed Jan 23, 2008 7:58 pm

so.... My dad has a resperonics bi pap with biflex. W

hen he first got it, we couldn't get the humidifier to work. I had read something on the forum (which I can't find now) and i did something to his machine and got it working.

we all just traveled, and now we can't get his humidifier to work. Everything is as it should be, no problems. the machine works as is, but just doesn't get the humidifer to work. we even replaced the tray.

The little blue light doesn't go on underneath the warmer tray and tank to show it's working.

For the life of me, I don't know what I did that day to get it going. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.. tHanks

Assuming this is the tank type (right?) and that you have pressed the "heat" button - make sure the blower is sitting squarely on the tray. There is an optical switch in the tray that tells the blower it is connected to a HH. Or vice versa - but the blower has to sit squarely in the tray.

Also It is controlled by optics, like GumbyCT says, so locating it on the tray counts.

Other things that could have happened, it could have been dropped or taken apart, and the light pipe in the XPAP may not be in the correct alignment. It will be hard to check because the light is beyond visible range. I don't know what it is probably IFR.

That's where it's handy to have spares for everything, it makes dianosis easy. Maybe it's time to look for a standalone HC 150.

Is it an M or a tank? I think all the lights on the tank are green, I haven't seen a blue light, but I have an auto not a biflex. How old is your xpap? You should be able to take it back to your DME for repair or replacement, they have a 2 year warranty on them.

I think that the blue light ones are the M series.

Yup. If it's an M it'll be a blue light on top of the knob.

If you can't get that style to work, try re-seating the machine on the humidifier base. Beyond that there's really not much you can do to fix them than take them back to whoever sold it to you.

If it's the tank style, it'll be a green light, and it'll be on the front bottom. Press the Heat button (Up arrow) on the machine and you should hear a beep. Shortly thereafter you'll see the green light light up. Press and hold the heat button to set the humidifier setting.

Let us know how you go.

There is a small blue light on the bottom right of the tray which indicates the humidifier (tank) i working. This light is not on top.

THe tray has been replaced. The machine is only 9 months old. It has been traveled well and safely, Something has been reset.

When he first got it, I did SOMETHING.. pushed some button.. that i knew about at the time. now i can't remember what I did.....

keep coming with the ideas!!!!

Have you tried pressing the Heat Button. The tank type does NOT come on automatically. Ya gotta let us know cuz it really is NOT that hard BUT the button does NEED to be PRESSED. Plus the blower needs to be correctly aligned in the tray for the lite (or heat) to come on.

could this be a M series xPAP sitting on a "tank" series heated humidifier?

I have a "tank" APAP. The light is where she describes it and although mine is green and she says hers is blue.... *shrug* bluish green? or greenish bue? whatever...

Make sure the power cord is plugged into the HUMIDIFIER (to the wall) and that you have the little "pigtail" plug going from humidifier to xPAP machine.
