ultra mirage and the quattro......??

Post by Rich03079 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 6:40 pm

I started CPAP with the Mirage Quatto, and love it fro the start !!!! great mask, and it wears well in bed & in my sleep. BUT??? I have problems sometimes with the head-gear straps which un-do themselves from the forehead.

I am allow new mask every 3-months...yes...lucky!!!

So today I got the ultra mirage, because it's forehead mask-straps have clips, and not-loops like quatto.

so will I enjoy the ultra mirage or miss Quatto FF? Any tricks I should know about ultra mirage in cleaning or tape for air leaks....any idea's?

Thanks

I have both of those masks as well, but I started with the UMFF and got my Quattro last fall. I tend to prefer the UMFF, still my favorite, though I continue to explore new masks, looking for the "holy grail" of masks, I guess :<). I, too, prefer the 4 clip system of the UMFF over the 2 clip/2 loop system of the Quattro--don't know what they changed that feature, seems like a step back to me. Really have no tips/tricks for the UMFF, it's comfortable and leak free for me. My only suggestion re comfort for ALL masks is to add the Pad-A-Cheek strap covers. I use them on all four straps, just makes the mask even more comfortable (and prevents ugly red strap marks on the face).

Hope you enjoy your UMFF as much as I do mine!

I have the pad-a-cheeks from my Quatro, so will use on Ultra-mirage pad-a-cheek are worth $$$$$ in comfort for sure. Makes sleeping enjoyable.

Thanks for comments, this site is so helpful between us CPAP user's

Yep, finding this forum changed (maybe saved!) my life. I so appreciate everyone here who has helped me with understanding sleep apnea and CPAP therapy. I was on CPAP for over a year with no good results until I found this forum. And, it's just good to be able to chat with each other as well!

Take care!

Rich,

I had the same problem with my Quattro. If you take a piece of tape and wrap it around the slotted piece of the mask where the top strap slips through (effectively making it behave like a solid piece of plastic), this fixes the issue. There is no way it can slip through the slots. I used one or two wraps of athletic tape. The only thing you lose is the ability to take the top straps off without undoing the velcro.

Good luck,
