Aeiomed Everest 2 vs PB 420g

Post by DJ » Mon Jan 07, 2008 10:16 pm

I posted earlier about my search for the best travel CPAP for me. Let me ask more plainly, regarding the Everest 2 vs the PB 420g:

Which one is quieter or has a more pleasing sound?

Which one is easiest to pack?

Does either machine have an overly-large power supply? (For comparison, I think my M-series PS is too big.)

I know these are subjective issues. If anyone has personal experience with either or both machines I would appreciate their feedback! I need to make a purchase decision by tomorrow. Thanks.

I prefer Aeiomed Everest 2, it is more flexible and light for traveling.

I have the Polaris TR (Everest 2 without data capabilities). The power brick is 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 2 1/4". It came with a carry case that is big enough for the machine, hose, mask, tape, ayrgel, and some spare parts. I can even fit a small bottle of distilled water in. When I pack it up I put the water chamber for the HH in a ziplock bag and just place it along side the machine. The case ia about 10" x 7" x 13 1/2". I can have it packed and ready to go in about 2 minutes.
I got the integrated battery and have used it many times(for power outages and a couple of naps on the porch). I like that it will switch to battery op and back all by itself. Once power is back on, it will trickle charge the battery. I get about 12 hours of battery use without the HH and about 6 1/2 with the HH. Lower pressure means more battery time and higher pressure means less battery time.
This machine is a slightly higher pitch than my Auto(tank), but it didn't bother myself or my husband.
This machine has no EPR or c-flex. I do love the c-flex on my tank, but it only takes a few minutes for me to adjust to the straight pressure of 9.
I have been very happy with my decision to get this machine, and if anything happens to my Auto, I would have no problem using this little machine on a more regular basis.
