Adjusting pressure on CPAP
Adjusting pressure on CPAP
I just downloaded an instruction sheet on how to change pressure settings to my REMstar Auto M series with A-Flex.
If my machine is an automatic adjusting machine, why should there be any reason to adjust the pressure? Does my machine automatically adjust to what pressure I need, or does it simple adjust within a certain range. For example: 4-12. If I am needing something outside of 12 I am not getting it.
Please advise. I have seen some improvement with my new machine but would like to get better results if possible.

That's right--the setting establishes the lower and upper limits of your pressure while in APAP mode. The machine will not exceed those settings. For example, when set at 6-12, it will begin therapy at 6 when you turn it on, then it will automatically increase pressure if needed, but will not exceed 12.

"You are getting sleepy . . ."
On auto if the bottom is set to low it takes to long to get to the pressure to stop the apneas. If the top end is not high enough it won't take care of all of them. Need to be as narrow a range that will still do it's job but still help the comfort level.

If you don't have the software to monitor your therapy, you're "flying blind".
Did you have a titrated pressure? Set your machine in CPAP mode to it before you mess with ranges of pressure.
An Auto doesn't "automatically" go to the pressure it needs to take care of an event.
