I have seen posts saying a properly fitted mask should not cause soreness on the bridge of the nose. Since I and the RT folllowed the instructions to measure with the mouth closed, I just assumed what he said was true for some but not for me. Duh. I have nasal obstructions causing me to mouth breathe. This means my mouth is OPEN, not closed. Using the manufacturer's instructions actually meant an ill fitting mask and a sore nose. Sorry Wulfman. Can't say I will never doubt you again, but it will be a lot less likely.

Ummmmm...... I didn't know I had given you cause to doubt me in the first place.
But, in any case, I'm glad to hear that (apparently) you now have a "good-fitting" mask......?
Actually, my situation is somewhat like yours. I had my nose broken in football in high school and even though it was straightened, I think it's been a source for my breathing problems (along with whatever else is up in there that tends to close it off). Almost ANY pressure on the bridge of my nose tends to restrict my breathing......so, I have to keep the top straps loose and my UMFF a little higher, so it doesn't apply any pressure there. That also allows the "flaps" to seal against the upper part of my nose and it works well for me.
That's another reason that I use the pass-over humidity as the cool air shrinks the "whatever" in there and opens up my nasal passages for better breathing when I'm asleep.
Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?
